My office they do frequently tell people it's important to stay home if you're sick, and occasionally they will offer unpaid time off if you dont have paid time.

Most people elect to save their sick days for personal stuff besides illness, and dont want to lose the money out of their check to take unpaid time.

Well it's not going to deter 100% of lunatics, but the school resource officer program has been in place in most jurisdictions for years (until recently with funding issues); it's pretty widely accepted that having a trained school resource officer is a good thing for many reasons.

dude, we have nypd (school safety) in our schools, from elementary to high school. the older the students get, the more stringent the searches to enter school become. by high school, you are getting searched like if you were at the airport. even with all this, there are still lots of problems, both with the students' behaviors and the officers'. i don't think mary q soccermom out there in middle america will tolerate little johnny having to show up to school an hour early so he can make it thru the security just to get to homeroom on time.
