Marathon'd this over the weekend. I laughed the first time Kevin Spacey talked to the camera, it immediately reminded me of Zack Morris. I only wished he would've thrown out a 'timeout', forcing everyone else on screen to pause in place.
I liked the show, but at times I wondered if this show would be better suited to watch once a week or even once a month. There are several instances where several weeks were to have passed between episodes. The relationship between Zoe and Janine comes to mind. Early on they're rivals at the Herald, but then they're soon helping each other out at Slugline.
I originally planned watching one per day, but as more and more people were finishing up the show, I wanted to avoid spoilers (which I did completely), so I flew through all 13 this weekend, the final 7 yesterday alone.
The on-screen text messages was cool, though, it did remind me of similarly used graphics in Sherlock.
The use of real web sites, TV networks, and personalities was a nice touch. Seeing Bill Maher pull off a very funny fictional joke as part of his 'New Rules' segment on Real Time was great.
I hate when TV shows use fake sites. A few days ago I watched an episode of Person of Interest. Instead of using Google to search for something, this show used a search engine called fetchandretrieve.com. Little things like that annoy me.
So, it's nice to have some realism.
Peter Russo's arc was by far the most interesting to me. That was a great character and story.
Overall, I enjoyed the show. I'm looking forward to the next season and will once again marathon the season to avoid spoilers, assuming Netflix releases it the same way.
Netflix has the original series that this was based on available to stream. It's queued up and I plan on getting to it soon.
