He read better at three than me or my classmates did in first grade. He just turned five and has been reading for over two years and can do double-digit addition in his head while his classmates are leaning the sounds the letters make and trying to count to ten, but he's a year or two behind them socially. He can tell time on analog clocks, but is then obsessed with timers and the like. A big part of both sides for him is he's very obsessive. My friends kid is the exact same way. I sympathize how confusing it can be with parents because who can explain to someone how to make friends and be social, let alone a person who is on the autism spectrum. And sometimes his obsessions make it tough for him to play because he takes his games so seriously. I know his best friend was a kid who was probably also on the spectrum and they did a lot of parallel playing. Kid can make insane things out of blocks.

Where I grew up was not absolutely white but almost all of the minorities were Asian and Indian, and of those mostly first generation kids in my classes, so they were ultra conservative and did not date outside their race much. Then in college it was a lot of the same because of the engineering school. So it took me awhile.

I've said it before, at soem point these young black girls got really into punk and if had happened when I was still in high school I would've gone bananas. They're so cute.

I have grandparents from 4 different countries, but I was just thinking of myself as an American white boy. Since I grew up and went to college in Jersey City, I would have been seriously cutting my dating pool if I decided to just date American white girls.
