Just took my CWP class about to send in for a permit. I don't understand why people are so afraid of having legal law abiding citizens having guns. They are not the ones committing crimes it is the goddamn criminals. Do you want to take away cars because people get in accidents or drive and drunk.
Stop rewarding bad behavior. Get a job work for your money don't be a fucking crook.
Someone breaks into your house what are you going to use harsh language to stop them...
I love the bumper sticker my front door is locked for your protection. LOL

I don't have the facts all laid out in front of me but I think I remember hearing a study that somewhere around 50-75% of all criminals were at one point legal, law abiding citizens
Do you want to take away cars because people get in accidents or drive and drunk.
No, do we have a regulating system for cars and alcohol though?

in a truly free market society, stealing is a perfectly acceptable way of earning money
Someone breaks into your house what are you going to use harsh language to stop them...
No, but guns in homes are statistically more likely to be used on yourself or a family member through suicide/friendly fire.
Criminals don't break into occupied homes, they go around knocking on doors asking if "Jason" or "Sasha" is home or they ask you if you want your gutters cleaned. If no one answers, they break in and steal everything out of your medicine cabinet and any guns they find. This is why the fantasy, not too unlike the one shown in the movie Christmas Story, won't ever come true. You'll kill/maim someone in your family or yourself.
I think the correct statistic is 100% of criminals were once law abiding citizens...at least I cannot think of how you can be born a criminal
(I love fun with statistics...)

I didn't quote you in my post at all, and I caught the sarcasm all on my own.
It'd be idiotic to argue with such a "duh" article, of course homes with guns in them are more likely to experience gun accidents, gun suicides, and homicide than those without guns. It doesn't mean that non gun households won't still find a way to do all of those things too.
It seems equally "duh" to me that a household with a gun has a better chance at home defense, in the rare occasion that it is needed. I have said it before on here, gun ownership is not for everyone, or every household. I live in the woods and it will take any help 10-15 minutes to get here, I like my odds better with my own firearm. If you live in a city and can expect a reasonably quick response, then the risks that come with gun ownership might not be worth it. Also, you have to know your household, I kept a very secure gun lock on my shotgun all thru my two kids angst filled teen years, just in case.

We tried that but Hannibal Lecter kept escaping
waiting for facts and nobody has a solution...
Authorities have recovered three weapons from the scene of the mass shooting, including a shotgun that investigators believe Alexis brought into the compound, federal law enforcement sources with detailed knowledge of the investigation told CNN on Tuesday. The other two weapons -- handguns -- may have been taken from guards, the sources say.
Earlier information that Alexis may have used a semiautomatic AR-15 rifle may have been incorrect, the sources said.
Investigators believe Alexis rented an AR-15 but had returned it before Monday's shootings, the sources said. Authorities are still investigating how many weapons Aaron had access to, the sources said.
Vice President Joe Biden recently suggested that if we have to use a gun for protection, we use a shotgun (not an assault rifle) and just shoot through the door.

I think what you're saying is that gun violence is a cause of social economic collapse? If so I'd have to disagree. As I've said before, if people only had kids they want and can afford, and two-parent them as parents should do, and get them through school, then so many young men wouldn't be out there with nothing else to do but fight for "turf" and "respect" and try to kill each other. The guns in these cases, mostly illegally obtained and held, are a symptom of social economic collapse, not a cause. Without the guns there would be/are other forms of violence - people are very creative. Without the guns there would still be social economic collapse.

This Picard will never make Captain. The guns weren't set to "stun". (http://www.dailymail.com/News/201310090067)
On a side note... There are still YWCA's? And, why hasn't there been a lesbian band redux of YMCA?

I haven't seen anything about the race of the Tampa shooting movie theater victim. Was he caucasian? Why is the President not commenting? What about the retired police captain that shot him?

Racist against whom? Seriously, the reports usually include descriptions other than age, I was just wondering.

oh I was seriously doubting your intentions here with "why is the president not commenting" and simply saying what you are sheepishly implying

So the first thing that came into your mind is that if the victim was a minority, the President would have commented? You know, when you point a finger, three point back at you.
Anyway, the President usually jumps on any well-publicized incident to promote gun control. Maybe because the shooter is a retired police captain, and a senior citizen, the President didn't want to rile-up the the police unions and the AARP crowd?

More details of the charges against Yee
The charges against Yee include conspiracy to deal firearms without a license, conspiracy to illegally transport firearms, six counts of a scheme to defraud citizens on his services, and wire fraud. A handcuffed and shackled Yee was released on a $500,000 unsecured bond Wednesday evening and was scheduled to return to court Monday to revisit the terms of his release.
He believes that citizens aren't to be trusted with those scary looking AR-15's. He reminds me of these Anti Gay rights politicians who are caught soliciting male prostitutes.

No one actually got shot, but...
Officials: Woman hid stolen, loaded gun in genitalia (http://www.wbir.com/story/news/crime/2014/04/23/woman-hid-gun-in-private-parts/8051925/)
(WBIR) Jailers discovered a stolen, loaded gun hidden inside a woman's vagina, according to the Kingsport Police Department.
Officers searched Dallas Archer, 19, while booking her in the Kingsport jail and found a .22-caliber revolver inside her crotch. After checking gun records, police learned the gun was reported stolen in 2013.
Officials initially arrested the Kingsport woman for driving on a suspended license, but now Archer is also facing charges for possession of stolen property and bringing contraband into the jail.
Edit: So you don't have to look it up... We're talking the East Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina area.

This girl is only 19 and look at all the supidity in her life:
1) Her license is suspended (probably for multiple moving violations or unpaid fines).
2) She continues to drive without a license.
3) She gets arrested (she probably got pulled over for speeding or something similar).
4) She's in possession of a stolen weapon.
5) She tries to smuggle that stolen weapon into a jail where it is clear that they are going to search you.
I'm thinking she's not attending Harvard or Yale and that this won't be her last experience with law enforcement. Hopefully she doesn't have any kids.

I'm all for people having the right to defend their home, but that dude is a nut case, and I'm betting he goes away for a long long time. He sat in his basement waiting, he shot the first intruder twice as he came down the stairs , then walked over and delivered a kill shot to the head, he then moved the body away from the bottom of the stairs, presumably so the other intruder wouldn't see him and run away. The second intruder was taken down with one shot, then when he went to give her a head shot, the gun jammed, so he had to get another gun, to deliver what he called "a good clean death".

This too:
Smith waited until the next day to call a neighbor, who alerted authorities to the shooting.
If he felt so threatened why didn't he call the police?
