Call in! Don't suck.

It's hot. The heat was running in my office all weekend so it was 92 in here this morning. They got it switched over but it's still in the 80s and probably will be for the rest of the day. Then we had a fire alarm go off. So not the most productive day.

Ron adds a lot of his own avatar into his reading of stonewall. Yeah, those people wanted to end harassment by police and be allowed to have their own bars like anyone else, but they werent asking to remain outsiders. They were asking for inclusive equal rights protection, which then meant they didn't want to get rolled by the cops, and has come to mean stuff like marriage equality.

Rons radio outlaw mythology is bullshit, he's a wealthy man with a family who controls real estate, makes a good salary, takes vacations with his kids. Ron is more bought into the "American Dream" than most people.

Ofcourse the ideal is that any personal expression should be accepted, Fez is being pragmatic.

Ron doesn't exactly disagree with him. When he points out how many, mostly straight artists, affected gay styles in the 70s that was just as much an act of assimilation than Fez is talking about. Ron learned to accept gays because David Bowie had chicks drooling after him and was the music playing at parties when Ron was picking up girls. They also had what Ron wanted, Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll.

David Bowie took the danger out of homosexuality for Ron, and Ron learned to accept it. Fez is asking for the same thing.

Hotlanta has about 40k actual which is good for 12.8% of the population, third highest by percent.

Surprisingly to me anyway Seattle is the second highest percentage of total pop in the country.

another Jenny euphemism for "bra-less"...but, you would think that would cause all kinds of "free time"

realmenhatelife
06-25-2013, 07:47 AM
So I was reading up on Stonewall. It seems like Fez is interested in the Mattachine Society, a group of gays dedicated to showing that gay culture is the same as straight culture and can be totally assimilated.

Ironically the gay groups that rose after the Stonewall Riots were a reaction to the conservative Mattachines, and preferred more radical ideology. The more outlandish and showy traditions of the pride march are an extension of this. Early pride demonstrations were quiet and orderly, the post Stonewall parade attempted to draw more attention to the cause by doing away with the former conservativism that gays were not satisfied with the effectiveness of. Also, its an incitement of violent masculinity, harkening back to detained gays forming a kick line to taunt police and rouse the crowd at the riots.

However, Rons assertion that gays did not want to be normal is total nonsense. Because thats all they wanted, and why they were so protective of the Stonewall which let them carry on more or less normally and even protected them from police raids, despite being a totally shady mob establishment with bad drinks and no plumbing. One of the calls to action post riots was for gays to own more of their own establishments, and business ownership is certainly a normal goal.

Conclusion, Ron and Fez are both a little right but both mainly wrong.

Isn't one of the networks doing a show about a satellite radio DJ?

No, its a movie:

Principal photography on Chris Rock's upcoming dramedy, Finally Famous, kicked off yesterday in NYC, and, of course, photographers (professional and amateur) were present to snap some shots of the available cast as they were shooting scenes. Within this post, you'll find a few of those photos. Nothing special, but it gives you an early look at what these two actors (at least) will look like in the film. In the film, Rock plays a comedian turned film star who, despite the expectations of his millions of fans, is determined to reinvent himself as a “serious” actor. Rosario Dawson and Gabrielle Union co-star with Chris Rock in the movie, »

I fucking HATE when stuff like that happens. I usually ask the person if they are sure that they have enough room. And sorry that the rest of us are in the way.

and I usually respond..."thank you"

just kidding...I get really annoyed when escalator people don't know "stand to the right, walk on the left"

I feel so bad for you poor yankee fucks, and who stands where on the elevator, whew, that's tough stuff.
We don't have a lot of tall buildings here in the low country, but in the not too distant past I was a truck driver, on the road for weeks at a time, if you want we can compare elevator stories to breach of toilet stall etiquette in truck stop men's rooms. :smoke:
