Will this lead into the topic "good old days in the factory, american industry etc etc and now kids just want to cash in and sell the family business..."

There's a difference between people dying in industrial accidents and people dying in leisure activities, drawing a parallel there is insane. And when there's an accident no one says "oh well, thats work..." there's an investigation that may result in policy change.

Ron was saying that a guy dying in the ring is the same as a guy dying in the factory that either fighter would've been working in had they not boxed, but they try to 'bubble wrap' fighting and no one cares about industrial accidents.
It's not a leisure activity for the pros. And they did change policy, title fights shortened to 12 rounds.
It's a leisure activity for people to watch and the fighters only fight for the leisure or vice of others. People arent going to be as into watching it knowing they might see someone die, so it devalues the product.

It's no different than a factory that makes products for leisure.

It's no different than a factory that makes products for leisure.
It's no different in the respect that if there's a death at either even in the routine functioning of the thing people look at it and say "what are we changing to prevent this?" which is counter to what Ron was saying.
It is different in that a TV factory would be seen as general 'industry' where boxing would fall under entertainment. But if you did document industrial deaths really visibly it would impact the sale of the product, like how after The Jungle came out there was a surge in vegetarianism and a reform of factory conditions.
God this caller is boring.

Yeah, I get that. It's not like you watch a web can of the frisbee factory when you buy one. I was just commenting on how you seemed to be saying boxing was solely leisure, and not an industry. I get that the effects are way different when there's a problem there than on the frisbee factory floor.

It's different in practice but not in theory, is probably a more accurate way to put it. By its' nature the entertainment industry is hyper visible so therefore any accident in that industry will have maximum impact.
I would also say that the nature of fighting is to kill your opponent, and safeguards are put in place to turn boxing into a sport rather than an assualt. So if someone dies it's evidence that safeguards arent sufficient. It's different than an industrial accident in that respect that you need to inhibit the natural result of punching someone in the face.
I dont think boxing is going to make a come back, there's no void for it to fill and people are way less likely to let their kids get into it.
Olympic boxing doesn't pull big numbers and thats on TV.

I think it has to do with the manufacturing of chain. Like you have to put the pedals right on the wheel so it makes more sense to have a bigger wheel so you can pedal less, go faster, and be more stable.

The term likely dates back to the late 19th century when fresh beer was carried from the local pub to one's home by means of a small galvanized pail. It is claimed the sound that the CO2 made when it escaped from the lid as the beer sloshed around sounded like a growl.[6]

What?! Draft beer is far superior to bottled beer in terms of quality and freshness (unless it's a bottle aged beer).
And you're supposed to drink the growler pretty quickly. They last with plenty of carbonation for about 2 days or so.

Only if the lines are properly cleaned. And some places I don't trust because the tap doesn't always match the keg.

I was happy that AJ lived in Arlington and I lived in Reston, some what close considering meeting him in NYC.
I asked AJ, "Where do you drink in virginia?"

I was happy that AJ lived in Arlington and I lived in Reston, some what close considering meeting him in NYC.
I asked AJ, "Where do you drink in virginia?"
AJ said "In a bar" and he walked away.
Probably the greatest put down I ever took.
So AJ does know his beer and I can confirm hates people.
That was more of a joke than a put down.
And weren't you there with a relative?
All of this.
Plus plenty of small breweries won't even bottle/can their seasonals or special brews, only distributing to local bars and stores in keg form.
I live a couple miles from the St. George Brewery and they don't bottle their small batch (trial beer)...they now are licensed to serve (sell draft instead of sample draft servings) which allows them to get more feedback on their small batch beer

Only if the lines are properly cleaned. And some places I don't trust because the tap doesn't always match the keg.
Agreed.

I met AJ once at one of Davey Mac's baby showers. He and I just stood near each other, drinking beers, almost never saying a word. He's probably my favorite board member I've ever met.

I wouldn't even bother you by standing near you.

Yeah like underdog, I think, said, it's only supposed to be like a day or two's worth. Iron Hill brewery around me does two small pizzas and a growler fill up special.

I'm going to disagree with your use of "another" but yeah listening to this guy is painful.
He holds himself out as an expert in comedy but an obvious Fez joke went completely over his head and now he's holding forth on "spiritual healing" and bragging about everything he's ever accomplished in life.

I hear ya. I have 3 64oz. growlers, so I can have 4 pints each of 3 different craft beers I get to sample first. Not a bad deal.

I know it must be hard to keep the funny coming but I swear all I want is to laugh when listening to this show. There are too many interviews these days. Woe is me

You and me both. And I'm not sure it's too hard, I think Ron's focus just isn't on being funny anymore. Sucks for us that became fans of a funny show.

Also, for all the talk of boxing being dead, I'd like to see how the ratings compare with UFC. I don't think it's as dead as people make it out to be.
