Favorite thing about Teddy:
"Pendergrass' popularity became massive at the end of 1977. With sold-out audiences packing his shows, Pendergrass' manager soon noticed that a huge number of his audience consisted of women of all races. They devised a plan for Pendergrass' next tour to play to just female audiences, starting a trend that continues today called "women's only concerts". "

I dont tip when I pick up take out, so I dont know that I'd tip at a food truck either. I tip waiters, not cooks and cashiers.

robert carridine died of autoerotic asphixation. im guessing hanzo's throwing in some kind of joke conspiracy theory angle. after that, i got nothing.

It's not at all the same service as if they bring it to your table. The waiter is getting you drinks, firing your order, checking in, generally "taking care of you." The food truck guy calls your name and you walk over to him and thats the end of your relationshp.

I do tip on ice cream cones though. And coffee. But both cases it's always under a buck. I tip if I'm sitting in the place eating, not if I'm taking home. To revise my original statement.

I consider myself a pretty generous tipper, and it never occurred to me to tip when picking up takeout.

08-02-2013, 07:25 AM
I don't like tipping for take out for some reason.
Bartendars and waitresses I always give 20% min.
Delivery at home gets at least 25% especially on bad weather days.
But take out...mmmm...maybe $2 at most.
I hate tipping when I have to do all the work.

I'm pretty sure that Abbie Hoffman did this gimmick back in the 1960's by throwing handfuls of dollars onto the floor of the NYSE.
And I agree with the point that this might backfire on the guy/brand for showing such contempt for his potential customers. Unless this brand is only for the 1% and they like seeing the proletariat fight each other over the scraps.

That's why when I clicked back on I thought he might have been gone already.
The guy is boring enough when he tries to do current sports talk. There is no way in hell I can stomach listening to him shill a book about a college football team from 30 years ago.

The concept with tipping for take out is supposed to go like this... If the person who rings up your order is also a server, then you should tip a couple of bucks. While they are ringing you up, they are taking time away from serving the dine in customers, who leave the bigger tips.
I also agree with tipping for ice cream. But only if there's already a tip jar there. When I got to a place like Five Guys, I'll toss the change in the tip jar, just for the hell of it.
