It's been wet as a whore house round here but yeah we didn't get the 7-10 days of 100+ that we've had the last two or three summers. But August has remained cold and we will probably get walloped with some awful storm come late October if we're keeping up the trends.

Looked it up and there were 2 days just AT 100, nothing over. Also, counting days over 93 as bad (you need some base point) July 5-7 were, then it was decent for a week, followed by the bad week I mentioned of July 14-20. I repeat, not a bad summer by any stretch. (All of this is for 10471, obviously your results may vary)

Food and environmental advocates are always way too quiet on how you can help poor people, who have the worst education, the worst resources, and the greatest risk associated with these topics, to adopt these practices. The way these conversations on the R&F show always contain some level of judgement really reads as classism.

i wanted to hear her say something on that, but class privilege and all... it seeems like she assumed that "of course" you have food options for buying organic fruits and veggies, of course, you have a car to get to the farmers markets, etc.
i know nyc is letting etb be used for some small farmers markets. i know there is one in hunts point. getting there on a specific day with a whole group of people also trying to get in is tough. carrying groceries on public transit is a pain in the ass too. there are so many issues that werent addressed.

growing up, my main source of fruits and veggies came from school. fruits and vegetables were expensive, and if i hadnt have gotten them from school lunch, i wouldnt have had them. it wasnt until i was older and was able to contribute to the family budget that i was able to incorporate them into my regular diet.
im not hearing anyone call in who had a similar experience
My best friend growing up had a big garden in his back yard that his father tended. I loved just picking beans and strawberries from it and eating on the spot. Nothing tastes as good.
Also, we had this farm (http://hindingersfarm.com/) up the street where we'd buy fruits and vegetables.

here it is:
On the afternoon of December 5, 1986 police received a tip that Davis had been seen entering the Bronx housing project where his sister Margaret lived. They surrounded the 14-story building, closed off local streets and posted sharpshooters on nearby rooftops. After searching his sister's second-floor apartment, police began a systematic canvass of all 312 units. During the afternoon, Davis forced his way into a family's 14th-floor apartment just as a neighbor and her son arrived, holding both families at gunpoint for several hours. After threatening the safety of the four remaining hostages, at 11:45 p.m. Davis released the two visitors and sent the hostage husband out to pick up food from a nearby Chinese restaurant. He also ordered the husband to call his mother's and sister's tapped telephones and give false location information. When the husband returned with the food he was stopped for questioning by the police and informed them that his wife and two daughters were being held.[3]
Police set up a command post in a nearby apartment and by 1:30 a.m. had established telephone contact. At one point Davis threatened to kill the hostages with a hand grenade, at other points he chatted with negotiators about stereo equipment, asked about a lawyer and showed concern for his own safety, saying that he was afraid police would harm him. Throughout, negotiators repeated "There is no use running, you have nowhere to hide now."[15]
To assure Davis that he would not be harmed, police showed him the press credentials of three reporters in a nearby apartment and allowed him to speak to his girlfriend. At about 7 a.m. Larry Davis laid down his .45-caliber pistol and surrendered. As he was taken from the building in handcuffs, residents leaned out of their windows, clapped and chanted "Lar-ry! Lar-ry!"

Just listened to the end of the show. Ron leaves to take a call, Hicks takes over and Fez pipes in through a shoebox. Is this the bottom for the show?
Granted, Hicks did a great job. He's come a looong way and there's no way Ron's cohost could anchor the show for 10 minutes. But we're currently paying for week old best of on O&A and 3 interns and a producer on Ron and Fez.

What? Seriously.
Did you hear the end, Paul O? What was the phone call about? My theory was that they got a call about Fez. Why else did he start to try and talk during the last 5 minutes of the program?

He's got a real bad cold all week. I know that doesn't seem like much but his health really isn't good to begin with.

Bad theory, bc it was clearly a personal call for Ron. Why the fuck would any radio program take a call off air about a host before the program was over!?

I remember this happening once before: maybe it was Don and Mike when one of them forgot to turn his phone off and said something like "I'm on the air right now".

At WJFK Ron took a call from their program director and blew his top. And about a year and a half ago Ron told to Fez after commercials that Rob Cross had called during the break, to say he was back from vacation and hadn't heard Fez. Both times the call was along the lines of "is Fez even there?" The way they stuck him on phones yesterday seems like a good day for a call like that.
I don't think I've ever heard Ron take a personal call on the air. Or leave to take a call unless it was a bit.
Paul O, Fez needs you as a personal assistant/bodyguard.

Hosts used to be way more disciplined about keeping phones off. I've heard Ant and Op both get calls and occaisonally answer them for laughs. I thought the guy meant program director type calls, which I've heard on Ron and Fez also. Although the show's unique. Last summer Ron mentioned how Rob Cross had taken decided he had to get Fez involved or suggest some time off. That lead to his most recent trip to the Nut Hut.

I have conversations with him but it's tough because I can't push him too hard.

Paulo is to Fez what Eugene Landy was to Brian Wilson.
And that ain't necessarily a bad thing.

It wasn't even the bottom of yesterday's show, which was 97% unlistenable dreck.

I'm hoping for more advice from Sara Gilbert and a long discussion about how good fresh carrots are.

Ron took a call once on XM, the show went to best-of and he was off for the next 2 days, I think.

That was the last show before vacation, Ron got a call and booked. Tom Rhodes was in studio, Dave tried to cover for like 30 seconds then they went into commercial and never came back. Were off for a week, did not mention it when they came back as far as I remember.

I think Ron talked about it, that it was a family thing, and that was it.
