if you are not covered at the time of illness, not only do you not get treated as well, but you also pay astronomically more for it too.

my dad was being treated like crap when he was first diagnosed with his cancer. he didnt have proof of insurance when he went to the er; he just went in. they had him in the hallway for A DAY because they "didnt have a bed for him." My mom was finally able to find which hospital he went to. we showed up with the insurance card, and a bed magically opened up for him within the hour.

Even if you ARE covered by health insurance at the time of a serious illness, chances are you'll lose everything you have unless you are extremely wealthy.

seriously. i didnt realize how insanely awesome the insurance at my job is until he got sick and then my mom had to change jobs. i really think that because she had to change jobs, and the copays then jumped from $45 to $2k which delayed treatment, it shaved lots of quality of life time from my dad.

To the point of money meaning everything in healthcare my dad's longtime friend died after a 13 year battle with cancer, after they had given him 1 year to live as his original prognosis. He really only had 3 'bad' weeks in all that time. But the trick is he was a multimillionaire who would fly himself to harvard for treatments, and wound up buying jets because his immune system couldn't handle flying commercial anymore.

It really is like Elysium level stuff out there.

ok. society allowing men to express emotions beyond anger and hatred is not coddling. heaven forbid, men are allowed to break out of rigid gender roles and patriarchy and express themselves in healthy ways. by saying that the further allowance of the expression of a range of emotions is a sign of weakness, you are implying that showing emotion, which is generally defined as a female trait , itself is a weakness; therefore, women are weak.

youre not as progressive as your hipster, cigar chomping, beret wearing ass thinks you are, ron.
