Fuck all this political bullshit. BASKETBALL IS BACK. I figured the hilarious text I just got from ESPN was a good way to kick off this thread.
Apparently the Knicks have told Iman Shumpert that he will now have to battle JR Smith for the starting 2 guard spot. ?????????????
WHAT THE FUCK, WE ARE REALLY DOING THIS BS ALREADY? JR Smith isnt even cleared to fuckin practice after his knee surgery yet. What the fuck kinda battle is it gonna be?
Not to mention whenever he is back, he is fuckin suspended 5 games.
Oh yea and if you dont start Shump, WHO THE FUCK IS GONNA PLAY PERIMETER DEFENSE???????
The season didnt even start yet and, already, i feel like shit about it. This is gonna be a long year for the Knicks

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I cant wait til DH starts bitching about how James Harden takes too many shots and drives to the basket too much. Dwight Howard is a giant pussy. They will not win with him. Best thing that ever could have happened to the lakers over the summer was fag DH leaving. After this year, they will get to hit the reset button if they want to. That fruit did them a favor.
The NBA finals are going to be the Heat. Incase you didnt notice, they are ALOT better than they were last year. And im gonna go ahead and say that it ends up being OKC in the finals again. Cause im assuming KD and Westbrook wont get hurt

I didn't wanna go with the most likely candidates
barring the heat plane crashing and everyone dying on board they make finals again
Man, this is going to be a long, painful season for the Celts. They shit the bed every 4th quarter.

So the return time is 3-6 months for Derrick Rose from his torn meniscus. I'm going with the over and saying summer league he'll be back.

Knicks offered Iman Shumpert for Rajon Rondo

The Knicks had a deal in place Wednesday to acquire Raptors guard Kyle Lowry, but Garden chairman James Dolan vetoed the proposed trade Thursday afternoon, the New York Daily News reports.
"There are two problems," a source told the Daily News. "Dolan didn't like that someone from his group leaked it to the media, and the other problem is the Knicks seem to have too many (people)involved with making decisions."
The trade, which could still wind up being agreed to on both sides in some form, would have included Knicks guard Raymond Felton and forward Metta World Peace, along with one of three other assets: a 2018 first-round pick or guards Iman Shumpert or Tim Hardaway, Jr.

Nets bring back Jason Collins. How do 10 day contracts work? Are they renewed since a player is coming back midseason?

it works like it sounds. its a contract for 10 days. after it ends they decide whether or not to sign another one, the rest of the year, or let him go
The Celtics have been doing that with Chris Johnson. They keep re-upping him with 10-day deals for the past month.

I'm needing if he means in terms of the Byzantine cap rules and what they can off vs other teams. Not that there would be much interest if you are able to get them to sign a ten day anyways.

you sign it at the rate of whatever your minimum salary would be, which is determined by years in the league. For Jason Collins I believe it is 1.3 mill a year. whatever that comes to for 10 days is what he is getting paid

i guess for a slightly deeper answer, it depends on the team. If you dont have cap room, it works like I posted above, at whatever rate the minimum salary is for the player. You can only sign guys to min contracts if you are over the cap and have no exemptions left. That would be the Nets, so thats how it worked with collins.
Theoretically, if you have cap space you could sign them for whatever you wanted for 10 days, though you are correct in assuming if a guy was worth more than the min, he wouldnt be signing 10 day contracts. Its usually used as a try out for a longer deal for a team in need of help, or as a temp fill for a guy getting injured.
I think its actually a great idea, and I dont know why more sports dont seem to have it or something like it

Knicks Ray Felonton had a shotgun divorce allegedly points gun at soon to be ex wife. Was arrested and released will play Thu. @ Mia.
Other news there is talk of making a 4 point shot and maybe have circles that pop up giving random points if shot goes in. :furious:En Fuego:furious:

The Knicks made it official and Phil Jackson is on board. So does he eventually become head coach like Riley did with the Heat? Should be interesting this offseason with Melo being a free agent and it being LeBrons opt out year. Of course there's the issue of the cap, I've seen Snoogans post a lot about the issue with that so I'm sure he's got a better perspective on it.
I listened to some of Dolans interview on the FAN today. Phil's got complete control, Dolan doesn't get involved with Sather either.

i think he is gonna do like Riley is now with miami,. Use his name and power to make the org better and bring in players, but I dont think he will ever coach.
as for cap space, the knicks have none until after next season. The cap in the NBA is weird, so they can exceed to keep melo and anyone they already have, but they are very limited in terms of guys they can bring in.
But they have something like 30 mill total on the books for after next season counting if Melo signs. So that should give them plenty of space, in a great FA class, to make a big turnaround, should they make the right decisions

It took Riley 10 years to get a championship that would put Jackson into his 80's.

And Durant, and Blake Griffin and any other great player in the league.
That's why he never coached the Knicks before: they didn't have enough All-Stars for Phil.

jackson is 68, so no it wouldnt. and it took riley only 2 years after being able to re sign a new team, which phil can do after next year
