There's a difference in an interview and just interacting with people, and that exchange forced more interaction than interview. Baker was reacting as a character instead of someone doing an interview, which I like way better.

I do believe he does still play well. Again if you watch the doc they show him really down and then normal and active. They probably did roll his ass out of bed when he thought he had a rest day and that accounts for how he sounded.

piecing it all together, based on what Ron said at the end of the show, something about Shelby bringing a little trouble on himself, when it's been said over and over that management doesn't listen to the show, so somebody would have to have gone down the hall and complained. My money is on Opie.

I just listened to it back again and it sounds like Shelbs gaffe and the ensuing fallout made management realize that Shelby was 'special guesting' which he isn't allowed to do. So thats what put him on the bench.
