The release is for 2014 but depending on when could be in the running for this years Oscars as long as they have dates in NYC and LA before the 31st of December.

I dont think Wes Anderson is making oscar worthy movies, really.

The girl was in City of Ember, which was a really well cast but not very good movie based on YA lit that failed to go franchise. Even more so with The Golden Compass, which was cast perfectly but stunk so bad it sunk the possibility of a franchise.

That's like saying Woody Allen doesn't make Oscar worthy movies but his movies got a trunkful.

I think I've kindof come to despise Wes Anderson's inability to make movies about real people and real feelings. The infantality of it all just isn't charming anymore.

Maybe they're real, just not yours?

Did you see the snl parody in October?

I guess real isn't as accurate as infantile. Growth is a strong source of conflict and I dont think his characters grow and change their worldview. I think they're just in the same immature world at the end.

Did not see it but I heard it was funny.

I was just being a dick.

Yeah, it was. The midnight coterie of sinister intruders.

I think it's always a valid first question if someone says "I dont find these emotional states genuine." Maybe they're just not your emotional states.

Maybe I just dont want to relate to grown up people acting like little kids anymore.

I'll bet if I kicked the shit out of Wes Anderson I would be looked at as a sort of folk hero.

It would do me no good at all. In fact, I bet it would cause my life to get slightly worse. Ever take a girl to see a Wes Anderson flick? Good times all the time.

And if you meant him and yourself I don't care. I'm clearly self absorbed.

That speaks to the heart of this though. There is no mature sex in Wes Anderson movies. There are handjob fantasies, incestuous crushes, tweens kissing, granny kissing and self sabotage via bed but there are no instances of people who desire eachother and have self esteem reaffirming adult sex.

I've always found Wes Anderson to be over affected. Sure it's well crafted whimsy and I know he's going for everything that I'm saying I'm tired of- a sortof second person narrative where the world is shown to the viewer the way it is perceived by the protagonist - but whimsy gets very one note and the protagonists are all essentially the same person.

Sounds like you're looking for the most boring sex ever in a movie.

To Keithys purposes you're setting up sexual dysfunction showing a girl a Wes Anderson movie in a romantic capacity. It's like later when its time to get down to it you're like "ok now we're not going to kiss, give me a handjob, I'll call you mommy, then I'll fall asleep without even attempting to satisfy you." And when she's like "what the fuck?" you'll go "hey bitch, I showed you the movie, you knew what was coming."

After much pleading... finally coming to a local theater on April 4th.

I think there were 7 of us in the theater for Moonrise Kingdom the night I went.

I've made the boys watch every one of his films over the last year or so, and they're Wes fans now, so maybe there will be 9 of us in there this time.
