His production is top notch, anyway. He's not a good rapper or lyricist anymore. His debut album College Dropout was stellar in all those categories, but then he devolved into a crazy person and his lyrics followed. I still liked him best when he was a relatively faceless producer of most of Jay-Z's best beats.

I don't know how much of these junkie books (Nikki Sixx, Duff McKagen, Artie...) are actually true.

The amount of detail these guys can provide (during their haziest drug binges) is seemingly endless. They remember details that most of us forget... and we didn't have THIRTY Lexipro pills in our system. "And then after that... I snorted four huge lines of percocet. That's when I raided the medicine cabinet and took two ambiens which I washed down with some Vodka. By then I was pretty fucked up so I called a friend of mine to bring me 500 bucks worth of coke..."


It's just all so vivid.
I kinda can't believe that they can recall these details.



Aaaanyway... the Artie book is depressing and it doesn't paint a pretty picture at all... but it is absolutely interesting. Really hard to put down.

I hope Artie is able to put together a couple of healthy years.
