Didn't see a thread specifically for this so I created it. Apologies if I overlooked an existing one.

Finally got around to watching it and wondered what your thoughts were.

I think it was good.

Had a decent enough of gore to keep up w/ the original and some of the focus on the book itself was good.

I was a little disappointed in a few of things though.

They essentially just dismissed the lead guy character guy in a very lame scene.

That made the girl, who had been the antagonist, the lead role.

I didn't like that because she had been possessed already so how could she then be " good ".

Decent enough gore? Mightve been the goriest movie ive ever seen. I enjoyed it. Hoped for more.

It was a good movie of the "cringey human mutilation" variety, if that's what you like. But it had zero humor, while the original had a lot of comedic moments. And even though they billed it as a remake, it was actually a part three or whatver, because the car from the original was parked in the same spot, but looked like it had been there for 30 years.

Yeah the plan is to merge the 2 story arcs in some manner.

Another interesting thing is that Evil Dead 2 was kind of a retelling of 1. It's a weird franchise.

Yeah I think #2 was trying to hit off of some of the success of the original and used a lot of the same gimmicks.

There's a lot that can be done with the stories so I'm gonna have faith that they'll make it all good.
