The coverage of the late night shows is the perfect storm of NY media. You've got Lorne Micheal's hand in it, plus media bloggers only write about what they can walk to, plus NYC dropped a tax credit on Jimmy Fallon.

I was annoyed by Daytona because there were two Bob's Burgers I hadnt seen scheduled. One was mislabeled and the other was preempted.

Along those lines... I was rather entertained by Ron's backpeddle after one caller's comment the other day.
Ron went on a jag about how he has no respect for comedians who hang their routine on being self-effacing. When a listener called in and said "umm... Ron... you love Jim Norton... and his whole act is based on calling himself a loser..."
Ron kinda stammered and trailed off and created one of those weird Bennington sentences that aren't really sentences. Something like "Well... Norton... isn't really a .... because... then there's that whole gimmick..." or whatever. It was a really weak response.


If a caller said that about something Hicks believed, Ron would've POUNCED. "Yeah... this guy is right, Hicks! You don't know what the fuck you're even talking about you half-drunk centaur!"

An interesting media story they should get into is this Conor Oberst rape thing.

In case you missed it the online magazine xoJane posted a first person account of a woman who alleges she was abused by her unnamed rock star boy friend. In the comments to the article a woman claimed she was raped by Oberst early in his career after her English teacher, Oberst's brother, arranged for them to meet after a concert. Media outlets jumped on it.

Oberst has filed a lawsuit against the commentor and details have emerged that cast a lot of doubt on her claims. Between this and the Woody Allen thing it's an interesting time to think about these kinds of accusations being made when they cant or wont be addressed legally.

Yes, Fez had a bad start, because it's the anniversary of his dad's death. But Ron turned it into a really funny break, having Fez do Ron's eulogy. Then a comedian joined the show and a panel style conversation happened. All in all it really was a funny show.
