Dave's Statement:
As for as our situation with SiriusXM goes, how we were bizarrely put on hiatus, only to be brought back, and then strangely to be let go again....well, it's simply fucking with someone's life. I'll have a lot more to say about it at some point. But for now, I can state that (perhaps ironically) it is not me who is off the rails...it is SiriusXM. There is no strategy. And odd, random decisions that seriously affect people's lives are being made.
I make $150 a week from SiriusXM, $600 a month. While certainly not enough to live on, with a family, the 600 bucks was really important to me.
And not for nothing, but the people at Sirius simply did not take the time to understand or appreciate the talent of XM people. It's that simple. So I was seen as some lunatic from 2006 rather than the legitimate talk show host that I have evolved into and have been recognized as such via awards and hit reviews from the likes of the AV Club, iTunes, Stitcher, Deadspin, and on and on. Really, the ONLY place where the Davey Mac Sports Program doesn't get glowing reviews is the company it worked (greatly and passionately) for...SiriusXM. Shame, really.
Anyway, I'd like to give thank you's to my family and friends and YOU guys for always being great and supportive! In particular, Chris "Pepper Peppy Hamburger" Stanley has been great through this, as have Roy Shaffer and Sean O of our wildly successful online show.

It was actually a very good show today, the time with the cam girls was much like the old days with the random hot girls they had on the show, after that Adam Ferrara was on for some fast paced comedy that had me laughing quite a bit. But none of that matters, you have such a pathological hate for this show that even though you don't listen, you hang in the LISTENING thread, waiting for a word or phrase that will give you an opportunity to spew your old, tired, played out negativity.

Oh quit pouting. What exactly do you actually have to offer to a LISTENING thread for a show you are not listening to? It's a ridiculous concept. You don't like the show anymore, fine, that's a matter of taste, no big deal. But why continue to bash a show that you aren't even listening to? It just comes off as bitter.

I responded, in jest, to someone mentioning my name.
Then I tried to continue to respond, in jest, to what people were talking about in a thread where people were barely talking about anything.
But then you had to come riding in on your noble steed to defend the honor of the show.

How did he insult him? It looked to me like Dave just told him the truth. Could have probably been done in a private message....
I feel so frustrated about the situation. I don't understand Sirius/XM. They seem to not care at all about the quality of their shows, just the star appeal. I listen to Ron and Fez, Mad Dog and I used to listen to Dave's show. Of the 100+ stations they have, it's amazing how little of it is actual quality.
How do they not pluck the best podcasts and turn them into shows? Why don't they have more overnight shows that they can potentially turn into primetime shows? Is it the Sirius/XM merger that killed content innovation? I still have my audible account for Ron and Fez, going to cancel my sirius/xm sub over the Dave thing. I don't know if it'll make a difference, but at least I don't have to be frustrated with this bullshit anymore.
I just can't imagine the Chelsea Handler show can possibly have more listeners than Dave and Chris would, and I'm pretty sure they pay her 10x more.

Am I the only one who thinks Jeff Gurian sucks ass on the show? And now I am hearing he is getting a show on the platform?
I don't care either way about Jeffery Gurian. If he has the hookup on comedians for the show, more power to him.
Gurian doesn't seem to have the attitude where he thinks SIRIUSXM and NPR owe him a living like Dave does. Gurian has something the boss appreciates, Dave should've focused on making terrestrial-friendly airchecks since before he left "The Ron and Fez Show" after Stanley was born. He has the talent to be a star, but he would rather scream "cumsies" and get belligerent with the boss at Jersey Public Radio than build a reputation that would earn him some quality money in radio.
I have watched radio stations cut money-making, known onair talent and Davey is demanding top dollar. The sad fact is that ordinary clerical jobs are paying more than the radio industry these days.

I'm a huge fan of ESD, and even I admit sometimes he'd venture into the inane. The show shouldn't be named after him, it should have him and pepper on equal footing so pepper can play a more authoritative straight role. In my opinion he's too much of a loose-cannon in the era of corporate radio. I wonder if he'd consider doing a 5-day a week subscription-based show. If he charged say $10 a month, how many people could he realistically get to subscribe? I wish Ron and Fez would do something like this, but they'd probably never get a celebrity guest.

I was actually hoping riotcast or itunes showed the download count because I was actually wondering the same thing. If he was a .99 cents an episode could he get 150 downloads per show?
Sirius obviously doesn't thing he generates enough subs to cover his cost and it really is hard to imagine that many people turning off their subs because dave isn't on anymore.
Ron probably gave him the best advice out of anyone, that he should shop a clean show in a small market instead of trying to start out on top.
I dont think Dave is too much of a loose cannon for corporate radio, I think he does an extrememly niche show thats very challenging to pick up if you didn't already know him, and he's in a totally flooded market.

I won't go as far as to suggest that his show its niche, but he is trying to play ball in a league that is pushing a mostly white bread, conservative product that is on par with those channels you never tune your cable box to.
I see Dave as trying to get the XFL to pay him four million dollars after their first and final season concluded.
We can point out that Stern or Fezzie are earning too much money, but that really has nothing to do with Dave. The same argument can be made for The Radio Chick, Steve Dahl, or Bill Burr deserving a show.
Dave has proven that he can do terrestrial, but he thought it was better to be belligerent with his boss at public radio New Jersey.
Smarter people would swallow their pride, make air checks, and apply for a job elsewhere.
To be fair, Dave can make better money doing ordinary 9 to 5 work and do the podcasting thing and still build toward a broadcasting career. As Ron said, it isn't that bad for him.

As Ron said, it isn't that bad for him.
our beloved ESD has issues bigger than being fired from satellite radio...professionally, he should give up the sports and the XL and retry the producer thing until he breaks through

Dave should try suing Sirius. Then maybe they'll pay him millions to do a couple of new shows a month and even throw him a big birthday bash.

Too bad he didn't quit. They would have emailed an offer to renew for 6 months for $25 dollars. That is money he could take to the bank
