I was a huge x-men fanatic, collected every issue of every series, but the awful stories in 2000 cured me. I stopped altogether...

Thanks to Hosp for the Idea:

My monthly comics bill is probably around 50 bucks, and it'd be more if I had the cash to spend on the habit. It's disgusting my obsession with the funny books.

I've collected off and on all my life, but the past 5 years I've become serious about it.

That don't make you a bad person, i too have WAY too many comics, i make my weekly/biweekly trip to jay and bobs stash (which seems like the only place in jersey to get decent comics these days) to get some spiderman/xmen/and-or green arrow issues

I have long box upon long box under the stairs, with more to come.

Weekly visits to Midtown Comics are the norm.

According to Wizard priceguide that Superman vs. Doomsay book blackbagged and untouched is worth about 18 bucks

I just bought an back issue of the Transformers for that much.....and its not even an early issue

I have a few thousand myself. A few weeks ago I got the Battlechasers preview gold foil, witchblade wizard ace edition, & spiderman 1/2 red foil for about $7 each mint condition. I just got the Superman 75 blackbag mint condition for $2. My local comic shop gives me huge deals on stuff. Like they gave me wolverine 1-13 in mint condition for $1 each. I got Evil Ernie #4 Eternity series for $7 there about a month ago & the book was never read until I opened it. The shop has Megaton #3 (first appearance of Savage Dragon) graded at 9.6 & the price the owner's selling it is for $19

I Dance For Nickels.

I'm very elitist in my comics. I only read stuff with excellent writers, like Garth Ennis, and even that, i only pick up sometimes (is he still doing Punisher?)

You gotta be careful about Wizard, as they're notorious for over-inflating the prices of the comics they list. The actual comics may or may not be worth as much as they are listed in Wizard's price guide.

My best find was a mint (or near mint) copy of Wolverine #1. I found the damn thing in a THRIFT STORE, of all places. And when I got it, that issue was worth something like 40 bucks (who knows what it is now) and I only payed like 50 cents for it.

Wizard's prices often reflect what they have in stock in their store.
