basketball

That one's not a sport either, in my opinion. Sports need to include some sort of physicality. Football and hockey are self explanitory, baseball has its collisions. Basketball stops everytime a player touches another.

If pool is a sport then you have to include my favorite game PING-PONG. And it's already been in the Olympics!!

NASCAR - not a sport.

Figure skating - athletic, but not a sport.

Skiing - not a sport.

Snowboarding - not a sport

BMX biking - not a sport. Nothing the X-Games people do is a sport.

Swimming - not a sport.

Soccer, lacrosse, & boxing - all sports.

The question isn't whether or not being a mime is a sport, the question is whether beating a mime is a sport.

I don't think anything that can be judged is a sport, like figure skating is a contest, not a sport.

Hardest sport out of the big four is hockey. You gotta skate, hit people, get in legal fights and try to score.

Ill take skiing, swimming, and BMX biking. Even snowboarding to an extent...but there is no way in hell that I am going to take figure skating as a sport. Any event which has the term "figure" in it, isnt a sport...

A sport is anything that basically can cause serious injury to the players...football, lacross, hockey, soccer, baseball, bmx, skateboarding, rollerblading, skiing, and snowboarding all have great risk involved and there for a sport.. and also anything that is a race is a sport.. otherwise we would never have had the olypmics..

Tazz, I couldn't disagree with you more on this point! First off, Basketball has incredible physicality. Have you ever played basketball? It can be an exhausting sport, and you are always moving, whether on defense or offense.and you're forced to play both sides of the ball.

You say that baseball is a sport b/c of collisions? WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? Occasionally there is a collision, but to judge a sport on that makes no sense whatsoever...wouldn't basketball then be a sport b/c of flagrant fouls? That argument is ridiculous! Furthermore, baseball is the one of the slowest paced sports, and there are players who only come up to bat on offense, and nothing else! If anything, basketball is one of the most physical and athletic sports in the world.

And isn't having judges in a sport very much like having referees? They do the same thing, and in terms of important calls, they have a huge impact on sports.does it depend on the degree of "judging" going on?

Sunny, I guess we'll have to disagree here. Basketball is the only "sport" in which I played in a league. I played for 4 years. Being the fat unathletic kid, I was still able to be very good at defense and rebounding. Anybody can learn to play basketball, its just not that challenging. I never found it to be exhausting or physical. To this day, its still the only "sport" that I have found that is just as boring to watch as it is to play.

Tazz, you're right, we just disagree here. I always thought of it to be challenging, and even through high school, it was still a sport where you needed at least some sort of athleticism...but oh well, to each his own.
