NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Waylon Jennings, who defined the outlaw movement in country music, died Wednesday after a long battle with diabetes-related health problems. He was 64.

A legend.

Waylon was the man. He's in the "Hazzard County in the sky now". ...How them Duke boys going to get outta this mess now?haha

Ps...do you realize Buddy Holly could have been the voice of The Dukes of Hazzard?
Weird stuff..

Waylon is one of my true musical heroes and one of the main reasons the Fender Telecaster is my weapon of choice. This is sad news indeed; he was truly one of the GIANTS of country music. I will miss him tremendously.

I'm very sad to hear that.
He was a friend of the late great Buddy Holly

Waylon was the greatest when he "guest starred" at many of his friends shows.
He would always pop up at shows performed by Willie, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Merle Haggard and many more. He also played on their LP's. A big loss indeed.

I remember when Joey Ramone passed away Al Dukes thought it was so silly that people could be so personally affected by the loss of someone they had never known or even met. It does hurt, though, when someone whose art and creativity touched you in a way so deeply that it forever changed you in some way.

I am somewhat surprised at how sad I feel, but not really. Waylon transcended musical labels, and I was buying his albums when I was in high school, when NO ONE was into "country" music.

This one really hurts.

Waylon Jennings -

Crying

I was all right for a while
I could smile for a while
But when I saw you last night
You held my hand so tight
When you stopped to say hello
And though you wished me well
You couldn't tell
That I'd been

Crying over you
Crying over you
Then you said So long
Left me standing all alone
Alone and crying, crying, crying, crying

It's hard to understand
That the touch of your hand
Can start me crying

I thought that I was over you
But it's true, so true
I love you even more
Than I did before
But darling, what can I do
Oh you don't love me
And I'll always be

Crying over you
Crying over you
Yes, now you're gone
And from this moment on
I'll be crying, crying, crying, crying

I'm crying, crying
Oh-oh-oh-over you

i can't say enough about how great he was. I don't think people realize the impact that he had on modern music, not just country, but all of it.

i think he just released an album last fall. i guess he knew his time was up and wanted to get everything out.
ride on, Outlaw

No offense, Sketchy, but the song you listed was from another legend, Roy Orbison.

Waylon Jennings is probably best known for his duets with Willie Nelson, such as "Luckenbach, Texas", "Good Hearted Woman", and "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys", as well as his narration and theme song for "The Dukes Of Hazzard". He also had a ton of absolutely awesome material that country music stations have ignored because it doesn't fit into their cheesy Garth Brooks-Alan Jackson-Tim McGraw idea of what "country music" should be. Waylon was also Buddy Holly's bass player, and his songs aren't merely "country" or "rock", but honest, heart-felt, and emotional powerhouses. He was a phenomenal songwriter, a unique guitarist, and the owner of the most majestic sounding voice this side of Johnny Cash.
