OK I keep seeing these previews for the new Movie John Q staring Denzel Washington. Now to me this movie just looks pitifull!! I really dont wanna go out and see a movie about this guys son who needs a heart transplant, and is put on a waiting list. When the father finds this out, he goes bezerk and holds the hospital hostage. COME ON!!I think a 5 year old can write a better movie than this, hell a movie for a bunch of todlers has better story lines than this! Please someone agree with me here!

ag, i managed to see an advanced screening online (but the final 20 minutes was cut off damn it) and let me tell you this, it's worse than you can imagine. Sure the characters are stocked but it's the biggest ANTI-HMO movie EVER complete with evil HMO leader Anne Heche who pretty much says "i want to see your son die because you're not covered bwah hah hah, bwah hah hah, hah hah."

I counted at least 4 different scenes of anti-HMO rants including one where patients in the ER Denzel takes over who have not yet gotten medical attention start talking shit about the HMOs. this guy actually had his fingers cut off and does the old "was it the hippocratic or hypocritical oath you took Stock Evil Rich Doctor (James Woods)?"

ag,

When I saw the commercial that 's the first thing that came to mind, "Are They For Real". But I've learned that you have to just kind of go along with it or you'll go nuts...
It's like camera angles, if two people are talking and they take a shot from behind one guy, he's much taller than the other but if there behind the other guy, he's much taller than the other guy, I always say WHAT THE?
Or a skinny guy is chasing a big heavy guy, at first he's 10 ft behind him, the next shot he's a 100 yards behind him, i catch myself saying "Give Me An F'n Break"
:)

I saw Desperate Measures the same week I saw Mercury Rising. It confirmed that there is no god.

Mercury Rising was a god aweful film. They should use that film on the prisoners at camp x-ray!

i just saw the ending and it's even worse than the rest of the film highlight if you wish to see:

A cop shoots Denzel below the heart causing the heart to fly out of his chest, into the son's mouth who swallows the heart and ends up saved ... and then the HMO inexplicably explodes

i'm not saying Denzel's a bad actor (he's great), in fact the movie has a pretty good cast- Duvall, Woods (who really should be in better movies). the movie just blows.
