Any Knick fans on the board...

What do you think about the prospect of trading Spreewell for Payton...

I think it could be alright, but realistically... it doesn't matter cause they are soo desperate right now as is...

anyone?

I doubt it will happen..and it wouldn't really make a difference this season. It could help next season but they need alot more to fix the mess they have. I just hope Spreewell chokes someone before he leaves the Knicks. He's going to be traded somehwhere by next season.

The Knicks should make a trade to shake things up a bit. I used to not want to trade Spree but this squad has not cut it for years already.

Ultimately, I would want to get Raef LaFrentz and Nick Van Exel but would not mind getting Vin Baker and Payton.

They gave houston that big contract because they wanted to pay an inconsistant jump shooter who plays with no emotion for the rest of his career... you don't think that is a good business decision?... you're crazy.

As die-hard a Knick fan I am, it kills me to see them now in such a sad state that they are in. Thanks for nothing Layden!
They should just get rid of everyone and rebuild, if it has to take three or four years, probably more, so be it.
I want to see a young team trying their best like the N.J. Nets are doing right now.

I think Scott Layden should go back to Utah & die! The only hope i have is for the Knicks to make a run at the Championship in the next 6-7 years if were lucky. We are in very bad shape. Houston & 100 Mill? whoever signed off on that should also go to Utah & Die! Right now the only player with any value is Spree, & i dont really want to trade him but we dont have many options. I would like to see Latrel stay with the rest of the team being gutted, but he is not the kind of player to have on a rebuilding squad, so were stuck in a catch 22 deal. We need to get rid of Houston for whatever we can get > Maybe Rolando Blackman could come out of retirement? I dont want no part of Vin Baker or Raef LaFrentz. Also the sooner Mark Jacksons sorry ass is out of here the better! I hate that slow footed bastard! I used to bleed Knick Blue & Orange but management & the owners have been making it very hard to root for them. I dont know what were gonna do. We need to not make the playoffs so we can get some lottery picks & maybe a point guard....we are a Long way from anykind of contention.

The Knicks should trade the Knicks. That's right, trade the entire team, and get something good out of it, like the Lakers.

IT'S TIME TO PLAY THE GAME-AHHH!

Trading Spree for Payton won't make much of a difference at this point, b/c do you really want the Knicks to continue with the whole "make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs and bow out" routine that they done for so many years.

I'm sick and tired of the playoff team that never wins the big one. The Knicks and Jazz are so similar that way, in that they were always playoff contenders, but never championship caliber.

The one year we were was against the Bulls in the infamous Charles Smith layup disaster Game 5 playoff series...we should have beat MJ that year.

And furthermore, we should have beat the Rockets in '94. We had the better team, and were up 3-2 game going into game 6...the thought of Starks getting his 3 blocked at the buzzer down by two points by Hakeem still gives me nightmares. Anyone else remember that he was on fire in that 4th quarter of game 6, and had scored 25 points in the quarter...he would have hit that three! Dammitt! That was really his last shining moment with the Knicks, b/c after game 7's 2-18 performance, he was never the same, even if he did win a 6th man award later.

Van Exel is a nutcase, but I do love LaFrentz...but he's playing better, and I don't know if Denver wants to get rid of him..mainly they want to get rid of Van Exel...it'll be a tough trade.

In terms of Vin Baker, he just got hurt last night, and has 3 dislocated toes and is out...INDEFINITELY! So that's out, plus he's a nutcase all his own.

The problem is, Houston is almost untradable with his contract, and the only ones with value are Spree and Camby, whose hurt. I think the best thing that they'll do is maybe a little trade, but nothing major.

My hope is that come draft time, the Knicks make their move. I'm not even sure if they'll have a pick this year with all the picks that they've traded away in the past, but if they do, it should be in the top 10-15 at least. Trade up, and while Jason Williams from Duke is just a wet dream for Knicks fans, maybe pick up that high schooler whose on the cover of SI this week...I don't know if they're even going to let him in the NBA b/c he wants to go straight from high school without completing his senior yr...but we'll see.

Rebuilding is the key, with draft picks and young talent. Everyone is expendable at this point, b/c this team is not going to win a championship, and building a team just to get to the playoffs and do some damage, and then bow out, is not what I want. I want a ring, b/c I live and die with this team, and this has been a slow death the past decade.

The Knicks are starting to remind me of the bad Yankee teams of the 80's.

Remember when they had a bunch of high-priced no talents that couldn't play together as a team? Steve Kemp, Steve Balboni, Dave Collins, "Old" Ken Griffey were a few.

The Knicks just need to gut that team, suck for a few years and then come back strong. But they've got to get someone who can evaluate talent.

And stop trading away all of their goddamn draft picks!

I wouldn't trade Spree for anything except a top draft pick. He's pretty much the heart of the team. But I'd give him up for Williams or Dunleavey.

It was a bad mix from the start having two shooting guards....Hopefully they can land van exel and LaFrentz or Payton and Baker...I've also heard rumors about Marbury....In any case, a good point guard can make a huge difference....If Houston has a qualitiy scoring point guard I think he's a more consistent outside shooter than Spree....Oh well, I doubt the Knicks will pull off anything significant...I just don't trust Layden.
