Britney Spears' movie debut in the premiere of CROSSROADS!!!!!! I have already gotten my tickets and will be the first on line tonight. I mean how could you not want to see this movie based on the reviews alone......

"Watching Ms. Spears sing, dance and act can leave you wondering what is meant nowadays by the concept of talent."
-- Stephen Holden, NEW YORK TIMES

"Her fans walked out muttering words like "horrible" and "terrible," but had so much fun dissing the film that they didn't mind the ticket cost. In this case zero."
-- Chuck Schwartz, CRANKY CRITICr

"Non-Spears fans will remain unmoved and may actually bolt for the exits upon hearing the opening lines to 'I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman.'"
-- Connie Ogle, MIAMI HERALD

"One of the more glaring signs of this movie's servitude to its superstar is the way it skirts around any scenes that might have required genuine acting from Ms. Spears."
-- Tom Maurstad, DALLAS MORNING NEWS

"A charmless road pic slathered in cheese."
-- Ellen Kim, SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER

I can't wait...Come on people, this is the movie you've been waiting for all your life!!!!

Britney was distracted during the filming because she's been hard at work on a cure for cancer. She's a true genius, and will be a Nobel Prize winner one day. For this, I can forgive her sub-par acting debut.

Gina, when I commented in confessional about liking to read bad reviews movies like Crossroads (and John Q which also has rightly horrible reviews) are precisely the reason why I love reading them. here's the link to rotten tomatoes for easy access to fun reading material for tonight.

here's just a quick paragraph about what this movie is about if you were debating seeing it

"But once the film hits the road, it starts to turn into a rag-tag collection of masochistic, adolescent female fantasies that include: being cheated on, being raped, getting pregnant, possibly losing the baby and being rejected by a parent."

Double Feature of Glitter and Crossroads

Hopefully this will lead to the end of Britney's career and push her one more step closer to porno/SWANK magazine posing...

Has there ever been a movie featuring a pop star (notice I didnt say rock/rap) that did not end that said singers career??

Ughhhhhh seeing the ads for this movie reminded me of the 80's and Breakin, and the hugely successful breakin2: the electric bugaloo...

The Bodyguard stagnated but didn't kill Whitney Houston's career.

I just want to see it because she dances in her underwear. I'll wait until it comes out on DVD and just watch that part.

The other two broads in it look to be horrible actresses too.

be serious jon, "And IIIIIII will always love you" was a HUGE hit that year. I can't see "Not a girl, not yet a woman" having as much mass appeal as Houston's bittersweet song regarding the impossibility of one's true love but how there can be some sort of happiness in their lives through memories.

Crossroads will be bigger since britney is bigger than Carey ever was and the Spice girls were in their descent when Spice World came out.

Crossroads opened at number 2 with 14.6 million. Number one was John Q. Sucklick
