Anyone catch the USA vs Finland game last night? USA looked awesome! What a game. 6-0 final. John LeClair had a hat trick, Mike Dunham recorded the shutout. He looked real solid. Tonight it will be Richter in goal against Russia.
Canada lost to Sweden 5-2. I didn't watch that game but I heard Sweden looks phenomenal. I can't wait for the USA team to kick their asses :)

Sweden was erally impressive I was very surprised tehy seem to be working more cofortabley as a cohesive unit then canada did, but then again they might have been playing so well against canada cause they knew they had nothing to lose..it will be impressive to see them play that way again...

Russia and Sweden will be much tougher to beat than Finland, of course..but the USA definitely can pull it off. If you saw the game you know what I mean. The lines were so in sync. Their timing was flawless. They seriously looked like they had been playing together for years. I haven't seen Sweden or Russia play yet so I don't know how they look, but just from watching the USA last night I am confident they have a real shot at the Gold.

Although it'll probably never happen, I'd love for the NHL to one day convert to the Olympic-sized rink. That extra 15 feet of width means 3,000 extra square feet to work with, and the emphasis on speed and passing is evident. I know the physical aspect of the game is lessened, but I think it's an overall more exciting product to watch.

I also find it easier with the no-touch icing call. Team USA was incredible and Barasso was good in goal, granted he gave up that goal 20 seconds into the first period. But it was the spark they needd to whoop their ass.
Right now, finland is getting past russia 3-1, 4 minutes into the third period.

Two things that have bothered me about the Olympics hockey. 1. The clock ticking up instead of down....that's irritating me to no end. 2. They were playing the Chicken Dance song...and people were doing it ..ugh, ponderous!

No way the NHL will use Olympic size rinks, every arena would have to do some construction to get rid of seats to fit it in.
I love that theirs no twoline pass calls along with the automatic icing. So if you fuck up the long pass you have to pay with the faceoff in your zone.
I wish the goalies couldn't come out so far. The rule I want is the goalie can't go behind the net and has to stay in between the circles and can't go further than the middle of them.
Great game by the US today, Belerus sucks, but it was great. Canada is tied right now, I'm still mad they didn't select Joe Thornton so I hope they lose. Two more games tonight, woo hoo!

Sweden has a strong goaltending from both Salo & Hedberg. The offense is too strong for barasso if he's in net. maybe richter but the US would have to strenghten their defense and watch for the screen passes. the US penalty killing unit is quite good.
US goes against Germany tomorrow but that not a problem for them. Germany has a ok team but they have to play smart hockey if they want to stay in it.
I'm sticking with my US vs. Sweden in the gold medal round.
Canada will this round but lose the next. they're lacking certain elements that makes a team good.

If you're not watching the Sweden vs Belarus game you are missing some quality hockey. Tied at 2 at the start of the 3rd. Belarus has a really good shot at the first big upset in Men's hockey. The Belarus goalie has been standing on his head. Unfortunately they lost 2 players to injury but hopefully they can still pull off the win.

I got to give to John LeClair. He is one tough son-of-a-bitch. He gets hit in the mouth twice, loses a tooth and still gets a goal and assist. That was too awesome. Now it's time for the rematch of 1980 between USA & Russia. It's hard to predict but i say the US has an edge of them in scoring. It'll be intreseting to see.

MSNBC Ice Hockey: Men's semifinal, Canada vs. Belarus
Today's first semifinal game pits Canada against Belarus. Traditional hockey powerhouse Canada, seeking its first gold medal since 1952, looked impressive in its quarterfinal victory over Finland. Belarus has been the Cinderella of the tournament. In the quarterfinals, Belarus shocked Sweden 4-3 and served notice that it should not be taken lightly.
6 - 9 PM ET
CNBC Ice Hockey: Men's semifinal, United States vs. Russia
The United States takes on Russia in the second semifinal game of the day. Tonight's game marks the 22nd anniversary of the American victory over the Soviet Union at the 1980 Lake Placid Games. While the players are different, the rivalry remains. The United States soundly defeated Germany 5-0 to advance to the semifinals, while Russia rode strong goaltending to slip by the Czech Republic 1-0. The United States and Russia played to a tie in pool play earlier in the Olympic tournament.

I love this game. And that was far from Garbage hockey they held team USA off and scored a few, they just outplayed and outskated USA.
