A grape is referred to as "FRUIT: of the vine.
However, Webster defines a grape as "a smooth-skinned juicy greenish white to deep red or purple BERRY eaten dried or fresh as a FRUIT or fermented to produce wine."
This confusing definition seems to imply that if grapes are dried they are berries, if fresh they are fruit. What exactly a dried grape is remains unanswered.

I think that since it contains seeds, except for seedless varieties but that's another story, it is a fruit.

Well, not really, Ive always wondered about that. See, if you post something that was previoulsy brought up, they rip into you for it, if you resurrect something that hasnt been discussed in a while, they rip you. If you want to talk about something, why does its age have anything to do with it? Wheres the line? 2 days, 30 days, 400 days? Why do they allow us to look into the previous posts and respond if its a no-no?
Plus, it didnt seem to have an answer, is it a fruit or a berry?

No, a berry is a fruit. Usually the botanical definition of a berry I think is that it can have multiple carpels (that's the little sticky place where pollen sticks on in a flower), and it therefore has multiple seeds, but they're all in the same area (the same flesh, which is the swollen ovary). A blueberry is a berry. A TOMATO is a berry.
A raspberry or a blackberry is NOT a technically berry.
And I think the objection is dredging up threads if you're not adding anything more to them.

Well, now I just don't know. It could be a berry. Hell, it could even be a fruit. But I'm suprised nobody's thrown out the animal option. It could be one a those!

How am I wrong if tomato's are berries and berries are fruit?
Regarding my bringing the post up from the cobwebs, I am adding to it, and inviting new discussion. You always point out if someone brings up an previous discussed topic, and if this is something I want to talk about, why cant I? Its kind of like being damned if you do and damned if you dont. Plus, this whole discussion took place before I was a member!
