When do you decide that the person you have been seeing is your official boyfriend/girlfriend? Is it after a certain amount of time? After you first have sex? Do you just assume this or do you ask?

No personal reason for this...I'm just bored haha

Well that's what love is like. Makes your heart race, turns your world upside down. But if you're not careful, if you don't keep your eyes on something still, you can lose your balance. You can't see whats happening to the people around you...You can't see that you're about to fall... </font></marquee>

when you start invoking the eight minute rule (when talking to someone new of the opposite sex, you mention that you have an SO within 8 min.)

or when you can fart in front of them

Poison,

What does the "official boy/girlfriend" mean?

Sounds like where you decide not to see other people...

I've been married so long that "I am not knowing"

when you date more than a couple of times it's usually considerd that you're boyfriend and girlfriend. it's not like the 60's anymore when you could just go on a "date", and that's all it was. now if you go to the movies you pretty much have a thing together. it's not my rules, i think they suck personally.

so to answer the question dating becomes a relationship way too soon.

the official status begins when you can sit there and say that you really do not want to go out with anyone else. you kinda of know that this is really good for you at this time.. and then just talk to the person about how you feel..

answer: way too often...

If you refer to her as "my girlfriend", instead of "this chick I'm bangin' "when describing her to someone...you're in a relationship.

It happens at its own pace unique not only to each individual but to each relationship as well.

There is a mindshift that takes place (usually gradually) that allows the formation of the "boyfriend/girlfriend" concept - a much more intimate relationship than dating.

In sum, it's not anything you can rush; if it happens it will happen in its own time.

Both irishkb and Hordeking are right. It's something that happens naturally but its also something that should be discussed. That way both of you know where you stand in the courtship.

i have to agree....when you decide not to see other people then you know you havea relationship, and when you get intimate / sex then you are crossing the line into a new level...but again it is all in its own pace

the epitame of masculinity (yeah right)

I honestly don't think sex has anything to do with it. I used to, but just because someone's having sex with you, doesn't mean they're not having sex with anyone else, and it's kind of unhealthy to assume that...

It is something that should be discussed, but probably not at length. Relationships suck anyway....

If he doesn't laugh in your face when you ask, "So, ummm, you're my boyfriend, right?"
