OK, the Grammys just flat out suck. Now what if we could actually pick who deserved to win. I know, i know, its about the art, its not about winners or losers. Well whose work stood out in your mind in the following categories in 2002?

Album Of The Year - Amnesiac, Radiohead - wasn't a disappointment to me, just another great effort from a group continuing to push sonic boundaries, honorable mention Weezer - "Weezer aka the green album" and Nas - Stillmatic

Song Of The Year : Toxicity - System Of A Down, maybe cause its the freshest song that I dug this past year but it seems to represent some of 9/11 to me and has the right combination of melody and rage for me, honorable mention One Mic- Nas

Best New Artist : Coldplay, when im in the mood for some soothing 'pussy' music as some might call it, this is the shit i love to chill to, these blokes touch me in that special place. honorable mention Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

Best Alternative Album : Tool - Lateralus, not their best but still way out of the league of much of what was put out this past year. honorable mention At The Drive In - Relationship On Command

Best Rap Album : Nas - Stillmatic, Jay-Z started a beef he couldnt possibly finish, you dont come to a gunfight with a spork. Didnt seem like he could ever top Illmatic but he just did. honorable mention Outkast - Stankonia

Feel free to add and create your own categories.

All the music award shows suck. Billboard hands out awards to music of the masses'(which is stupid kids)...ie. boy bands and brittany spears.. which are horrible. The Grammys always pick out a few artists they feel necessary to deam popular and good. This year was U2 and Alicia Keyes. The year before was Steely Dan. The year before that was Carlos Santana. And I really enjoyed the speech on how downloading free music is bad and should be stopped. The music business has not lost any sales due to the downloading craze. Their sales remains the same if not increased. They just can't stand not to make a few dollars on people getting music. F'em all...download people...download!

The Grammys were, are, and will always be a SHAM...Album of the Year should never be a soundtrack unless it was performed by ONE ARTIST! Now every tool on that disc is "Grammy-Award Winning!" Awful.

Also, I'm sick of awards given to artists who are nominated because their early work was good but never got nominated then. That Santana album a few years back wasn't anything special, it was COMMERCIAL. It doesn't come close to comparing to his classic albums at all.

Also, I liked Nelly Fratado or whatever the fuck her name is a lot better when she was lighter skinned and called herself Natalie Imbruglia.

It's not funny, my ass is on fire...

Actually, sales were down 5 percent last year (NYT, Feb 24). It would be ridiculous to think that all this downloading isn't cutting into sales.

That's not true...I am a huge music fan and overall music business follower. The fact is the boy bands, brittany spears types and bubble gum music far surpass the laging of any other musical declines. The record labels and companies have not lost a dime due to the downloading craze. They talk and act like they have lost. They think they are losing out....not actually have lost money. They are just pissed that they can't charge and make some money off of it.
