View Full Version : Does getting older = getting better?

I turned 30 last October and for whatever reason my social life picked up. I've noticed women looking at me a bit differently. Maybe it's the way I've been carrying myself, I don't know. Do you think, like fine wine, we improve with age? Or, like milk, do we spoil and start to smell bad with age?
Cake or Death? Uh, I'll have the cake please.

Getting older = getting better?
Damn right.
A woman in her 30's is damn sexy. You guys can all have your "teen dream" Britney's and Shakira's and all that. Gimme a woman that knows something about the world and life instead.

Getting older gives a tremendous change in perspective, both personal and gestaltic.
A pscyhiatrist named Erikson wrote about 8 stages of psychosocial development, which has now been expanded to 11 and includes prenatal and pre death. His main point is that every age has its challenges, issues and crises that must be successfuly resolved. He and those that follow his perspective offer tremendous insight of the changes occuring as we age. It's fascinating stuff and if anyone is interested just look for Erikson or Newman on Google.

Older men do a better job pleasing their women.
They usually fall asleep and the woman leaves with his cash and credit cards.

I'm 33, in a good relationship (with a 38 year old), decent job, pretty satisfied with my life. When I was 23 I was engaged to marry a fucked-up human being (shows how straight I was thinking at the time), hated my job, generally miserable.
I don't believe you have to hit your 30's for things to get better, but it seems to be working for me.

i turned 29 in january, and i'm dreading turning 30. i see things a lot clearer. i spent a lot of time in my late 20's trying to figure myself out. then i did a few years ago. the last 2-3 years have totally sucked so bad, so i'm hoping my 30's will be better

I'm going to be 35 pretty soon. Yeah, I'm getting older, but I have to admit I'm SO glad my 20s are OVER with! It was a learning experience. Believe me-- I was NOT the same person when I hit 30 that I was when I was 20!
With age comes wisdom. I can't wait to be an old lady with a big floppy hat weeding in my garden. I'm sure every wrinkle I have then will be WELL DESERVED!

Wait, you mean all I have to look forward to is 40, a mid-life crisis, and death? Ouch! that's a little harsh. I feel like swallowing a 5th of Drano. Goodnight.
Cake or Death? Uh, I'll have the cake please.
