Yes, the Bush cabinet of appointing active lobbyists was certainly stopped! *Sarcasm tag*

Please, get beyond the right-wing talking points.

Dude, you always say the same thing. I'm not quoting talking points. Just what I observe. And for your information, Obama has already appointed a lobbyist to a cabinet level position. I get that you're lib, and you hate when I say anything negative about your boy, but so far by my count he's blatantly broken 2 campaign promises, he messed two serious foregin policy decisions, and had 2 cabinet level appointments shit the bed. I'm not even mad, this is the jokey thread by what I can tell, not the serious one and I was making a humorous observation. Stop saying "right wing talking points" its transparent and so tired.

The "if it were a conservative" gimmick you used is the tired gimmick. Seriously...I'm sick of conservatives playing this "the rules are different for THEM" card, which isn't even based in any sort of reality.

Its more tired than "Obama is a socialist" or "See Obama isn't bipartisan", which are already ridiculous points.

You have not made one single relevant point here. I'm not using any gimmick. And the table is slanted your way in reference to the double standard. I never said he was a socialist, or that he is partisan. You're throwing red herring because you have no reasonable response to my previous posts. Weak.

How is he 0 for 2? He just normalized relations with Russia over the bs missile defense program for starters. We get to save our tax money on a program that has been a near complete failure and Europe doesn't have to have new Russian ICBMs aimed at it. Seems like kind of a winner there.

Our defensive position and that of our allies was weakened by that decision. However, I can agree that it wasn't a horrible way to save a ton of dollars. Not a total failure here. No argument from me.

How was it weakened? No one in NATO was clamoring to have missile defense systems put on their land, especially our most stalwart of allies -- France. When your #1 bud doesn't want to go along with it you know something ain't right.

I keep hearing how Reagan ended the Cold War. Odd, since if communism is such a failed experiment why would you need to combat it? More importantly, why would you need to spend so much money and fight so many wars battling a faulty system.
Russia possibly posed less of a threat to a free world than we did. How many freely elected governments did we either directly or indirectly topple? Our foreign policy has always been; buy or build our shit. We don't care whether you are a democracy or a dictatorship, just trade with us, and allow our corporations to exploit your people.
Republicans are several decades behind, the religious rights are several centuries behind. If terrorism is truly a great threat we must address it properly. You do not combat terrorism with force. Force is what fuels terrorism. Yes, you must try to prevent terrorist acts, but you must address the underlying causes. Otherwise, you turn the globe in Vietnam. The simple base cause is poor, uneducated, impoverished, exploited youth. Not only exploited by us, but we are the easiest target.

I like the fact that he ordered the Predator drone strikes in Pakistan.
I also like his new ethics rules.
I also like that he ordered them to get underway closing Guantanamo.
I also like that he made it clear we will not torture prisoners.
I also like seeing him reach across the aisle.
I also like the way he inspires confidence at the same time as telling us that it's going to take a long time to get out of the current economic mess.

Looks like a good start, to me, when I look at the overall picture...

                    • I'm amazed we haven't been taken over yet.

He's going to weaken our military.

                      You'll see!!!

You have concluded already that those decisions were horribly wrong. Yet, how many years does it take to admit going to war in Iraq was a mistake?

So, I can start learning the language. Who is it that will be "taking us over?"

None, I concur that Iraq was a mistake. Lots of things Bush did were mistakes, again red herring. I was speaking of Obama and his current flubs.
