AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND...

Every Kentucky National Title has been followed by at least 1 Yankee Championship right after...

We still suck..

Dan 'Hampton 04-08-2012 06:53 PM

This season is going to be epic. In some way.

A.J. 04-10-2012 04:00 AM

Yay.

A.J. 04-11-2012 04:23 AM

And the Bard experiment is the failure I knew it would be.

spoon 04-11-2012 09:50 AM

And your closer situation is sketchy at best with the injury, so why not move him in there and try some kid in the 5 spot?

Pitching duel going on right now for the rights to this series. Romero rebounding nicely thus far and hopefully he gets this win.

we have some kid in the 5 spot. Bard is the 4. Felix Doubrant is the 5. Partly cause the amazing Jonathan Lackey is out for the year. they should start Aceves and let Bard close though, i agree

THANK you. Bard was groomed as Pap's heir apparent anyway (remember the talk years ago about making Pap a starter?) and he has two pitches in his arsenal so it's doomed to fail. It's a matter of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". They used Andrew Miller as a starter last year and he was due for a better year. This is also why I miss Wakefield: he was a good insurance policy to have in a situation like this.

Your Jays are looking pretty good spoon.

Yah he did look sharp the other day, but wasn't HE in the 4 spot and Bard last nigh was in the 5th? Did I miss something or are you just giving the true ranks, like how Drabek pitched in the 5 hole but is our actual #4 with Carreno/Laffey in a #5 rotation until McGowan gets back...which seemingly never happens.

A.J. 04-11-2012 10:17 AM

Lester
Beckett
Buchholz
Doubront
Bard

spoon 04-11-2012 10:26 AM

Well I know they say be careful what you wish for, but I'm hoping this inning is it for Lester. He's dealing outside of one inning with a few hiccups. Glad Romero is on a nice count and hopefully will not only get the win, but go the distance.

Too much bullpen use early with the first two going 28 combined and needing the pen a lot of late.

Lester's been good but hasn't gotten any run support.

Romero isn't getting much either, just a well pitched game overall.

Yet I am surprised to see Lester out here in the 8th. He's up to 109 now, but 2 quickly down. 15 in a row may be what V may be thinking. Seems a little long a start for the second start, but the guy is a bull no doubt.

Bottom line, that's what happens when you're matched up against the other teams ace almost every week until the schedules get a little mixed up later. Both Romero and Lester aren't true bonafide aces just yet, even if they have the stuff and makeup. They just have to assume the role/position a little longer and both are clearly their staff's ace though. I like the way Romero rebounded here, and Lester has back to back impressive starts.

Side not, Davis is fucking fast.

Snoogans 04-11-2012 10:40 AM

If there is a God, Bobby V will be fired during the season or shortly afterward and Jason Varitek will be made the manager.

A.J. 04-11-2012 10:44 AM

And the guy who should have been the Sox manager long ago is currently in the Toronto dugout.

Snoogans 04-11-2012 10:46 AM

this is gonna be a long summer

And Toronto changed a rule JUST to stop Boston from trying to steal him in the offseason. Farrell is staying in Toronto a LONG time!

spoon 04-11-2012 10:50 AM

Santos can dig out a TON with his Toronto future with a clean 2 outs here.

Nervous

spoon 04-11-2012 10:52 AM

His slider and off speed stuff in general is REAL sick. Santos just has to trust his stuff and stop overthrowing his fastballs (2 and 4 seamers). He still is overthrowing them tbh.

Nice job FINALLY by Santos.

yea, my safety team was always the Braves. Awesome

A.J. 04-11-2012 11:06 AM

And this also shows why they should have traded Youk when he still had some value. Fucking Will Middlebrooks has been tearing it up in Pawtucket.

they coulda got a good young starter from someone in a playoff chase for youk too. Someone who would be tearing shit up now

A.J. 04-11-2012 11:17 AM

Tito won't be at the Fenway 100th.

Good for him, especially after the smear campaign ownership put him through. Well, all except John Henry who probably busy in Liverpool at the time.

mine wasnt so much a safety team. It was realizing that living where i do, being a sox fan, that people would get even MORE pissed if they knew i also rooted for Atlanta. it was partly the mets, but more so, YANKEE fans hated atlanta fans in teh 90s almost as much as Sox fans. So it was natural and easy. Esp cause they were on TBS every day back then.

And no matter how much i love the sox number 1 in my heart, my favorite player ever will always be Ron Gant. And i specifically mean the Atlanta Ron Gant pre breaking his leg fallin off a motor scooter

THE SAME RON GANT THAT WAS PULLED OFF THE BAG BY HRBEK (i think) in the top of the 9th in game 7 against minnie in 91 and was called out anyway cause the ump is a fuckin asshole. They woulda won that game if not for that BS

That was one of the all-time scumbag moves in baseball. I couldn't believe he got away with that.

and the ump was standing like 2 feet away. Staring right at it. i was only like 8 years old and i can still see it in my head

joeyballsack 04-13-2012 12:13 PM

Ellsbury leaves the field holding his arm to his side after going into second hard.

It's going to be a very long season.

WRESTLINGFAN 04-13-2012 07:07 PM

Thats gotta suck. He missed most of 2010 and was an MVP candidate last year

Beckett had a good outing today
