Dirt eating dog over here too... Mine mostly does it when we are out at the camper in the woods. That really soft rich black earth, he digs into it to loosen it up then lays there and eats it. It is especially funny when I call his name and he looks at me with his black muddy face!
He's a poop eater too...gross...but only in the winter...he likes poopsicles.
