If you have a question you want answered and don't mind posting your screenname, ask it here.
I'll move it to a new thread as soon as the answer is ready.
If you have a question you want answered on the forum, but anonymously, PM me and I'll put it up here in a new thread.
If you have a question you want answered privately, feel free to PM me or email me. You've got to say "please don't post this to the forum" or I'll forget. I may forget anyway, seriously, I'm really absentminded, so keep that in mind when you write. I'll do my best to protect your privacy, but things happen occasionally. If I post something you want removed, just let me know asap.
Feel free to reply in the threads; just be respectful of the original poster. You can make fun of me, or make poo jokes (which are always funny), but don't make the person with the original question sorry that they posted, ok? Also, if you think I got something wrong, absolutely feel free to post...my philosophy is if I am wrong about something, it's an opportunity to learn something new.
your pal,
Steve
UPDATE! We now have a voicemail number you can call to leave a question for us to answer on the air. Unlike the ronfez.net posts, there's no guarantee we'll answer you, but if we do, we'll play the question (and it'll sound more "live"). If you'd like to try it out, the number is: 423 3 4 3 8884 (or 423 DIE TUTI). let me know what you think of it!
UPDATE! Feel free to email me at drsteve202 at gmail dot com if you have a question that requires a more rapid response. Let me know it was from here so I can eventually post it here (unless you don't want it posted...let me know)

Dr Steve, have you heard anything about what is going on in the Ukraine? H1N1 is there but the ARI that everyone else has seems to be the real issue. Is it a result of the H1N1 or vice versa? Is it just coincidence that they are in the same place at the same time is it all a hoax? Why has our government said anything about it?

Will Skaters Live to Old Age?
Dr Steve,
Today I witnessed skate boarders doing tricks and riding rails and video taping themselves. They seemed to be trying to capture "fail" moments, when one of them will shatter their ankle or have a bloody faceplant.
They seem to really be stressing their bodies and joints and I wonder what these guys will be like when they are 40 and 50. Will they be able to move around after doing all this shit to their young pliable bodies in their later years? If not, why isnt more done to educate them? Im 44 and I remember having a skate board in 9th grade, but after a few tumbles, I gave it up. But Im sure there are many people my age now who can attest to what happens to them years later, right?
I was wondering.. since smoking weed releases endorphines, and since endorphines are opioids, can subuxone help those addicted to marijuana ? If not, is there anything that could help ?
I can kind of twist my tongue and hold it in my teeth so the tip of the tongue is upside down. When I do this, if I touch my tongue with my finger, the touch registers on my tongue on the opposite side of my tongue from where my finger is actually touching. It's kind of freaky. Does this happen to everyone? What causes this?

A dermatologist prescribed aclovate cream for me last year (http://www.drugs.com/cdi/aclovate-cream.html) for my insanely dry skin around my nose. As the prescription ran out, so did my health insurance. I know you aren't a dermatologist but I was hoping you knew if there is an identical over-the-counter drug.
They say the 5th rib is tilted slightly adrift of its proper positioning and is therefore pulling tissue like an extending chord of meat booger. This results in gobs of back pain and I was wondering if it'll fix itself if I just take the pain for a few more weeks?

You are the best. Thanks for taking time out of your busy sched to answer questions.
I had a Septoplasty and Sinus clean-up back in 2006. For a few years I was doing just great, but recently I'm not doing that well. It feels like my one problem side of my nasal passage is close to shut again, and I am getting a lot of the headaches/sinus pressure that I had before my Septoplasty. I went back to my ENT doc, and he scoped up there and said my nasal passage hasn't deviated again. He recommended another CT Scan to see if there is some kind of problem up there. I just think that I am loaded with tons of backed up sinus juice, or I could have some scar tissue up there that is causing problems.
I tend to notice that when I take things like amoxicillin and other things that help a little. NETI Pots have caused problems for me, they make me too dry. I have tried Astepro nasal spray, and this either helps a lot or makes me feel worse. I also notice that the airflow coming out of my initial bad nostril shoots out straight instead of down like typical nasal passages do.
Anything you can think of that is causing a problem for me? Or should I follow-up with the CT Scan and go the surgery route again if need be.
My allergies (at least I think its allergies) have been a bitch for the past couple of months. Primarily stuffy nose and when I wake up in the morning I usually have to hack up a good amount of phlegm (VERY thick, usually white but on occasion a light yellow). What seemed to work the best is Claritin Extra (not sure what the equivalent US product would be but it contains 10 mg loratadine USP and 240 mg pseudoephedrine). It worked for the first month or so but then slowly was less effective. Went to the local walk in clinic where the on duty hack prescribed Omnaris (which I think is the same product on both sides of the border).
A couple of problems. 1) I'm too damned stuffed up to inhale the medication and 2) when I have managed to take it I seem to develop sort of a raspy wheezy noise when I exhale (its very slight but I notice it most when I'm trying to fall asleep). Its definitely worse at night and in particular when I go to sleep.
My house is spotless, the furnace and ducts are cleaned every year, vacuum a few times every week, very little dust, no pets that shed, mattress is about a year old. Only thing is its very dry here with a normal relative humidity this time of year of ~30-40%.
Maybe sinusitis or asthma???? Thoughts?

Dear Dr Steve..
How long can someone hold on to life from sheer willpower? You know the type, those people that should be dead on paper, but defy the odds and continue to exist.....And does a positive attitude seem to work better than say just plain old meanness and stubborness?

Doctor Steve about a year ago I reached out to you with some concerns about my weight and the health risks involved. You in turn recommended that i buy and read the sugar busters diet book. I have to thank you because with the help from that book I have lost nearly 80 pounds in the past year and have changed my life. You rock doctor Steve. Thank you so much, also what can you tell me about those 2 week colon cleanse products., worth the hype or just another supplement that is unnecessary. thanks a bunch once a gain doctor Steve
Hey Doc,
I don't trust chiropractors, what do you recommend for lower back pain besides going to a chropractor? Also with lower back pain, how can you tell if it is just back pain and not any sort of kidney problem or something else? I don't have any problems peeing or shitting. I do work out and tried to cut down on some of the weights, but I still get the back pain.
Thanks
SEEYAYYAAA

Yo funk doc, what it do?
Question yo.
What exactly is the purpose of one's Sinuses? When they get clogged or congested, why dont they just probe and extract the mung out of there? Seems to me that would really solve some problems.
I believe that some people have a predisposition to addiction but is it addiction specific?
I've had jobs over the years where it was the norm for everyone to smoke. If you were working you smoked....in the truck, in the office, in the coffee room, during the safety meetings. I'm sure the average person (myself included) went through two packs during each 12 hour shift. I'd do this for four months then when I rotated back back to the corporate offices just stopped smoking. No cravings, no (extra) irritability, no weight gain, etc.
On the flip side I've also gone through periods where I've drank too much (i.e. bottle of scotch a night for a few months at time) and giving that up was tough. Although I'd likely been considered an alcoholic I never did the 12 steps or other treatment just quit cold turkey when I knew I was out of control. I'd crave getting my drunk on every night and when I didn't would be a sweaty shaking basket case.
So, are there some substances I'm just biochemically drawn to or....?
Gracias dude!
