Nah haven't had a one. Just feel torn between having a couple to celebrate and anticipating a hang over while dealing with non stop crying from my wife and child.
I need an update.
( I would have liked to go to that, but I had conflict on 6/13)
Sorry I didn't see this until now.
Robert Ranolph was great, as usual.
As for the 10th Anniversary IPA, I was very impressed with it. A really enjoyable, drinkable beer. It's heavy on both hops and malt. The sweetness of the malt cuts the bitter edge off, so it doesn't have the bite of your typical Double/Imperial IPA. It's not nearly as sweet as DH 120, but I think that's a good thing. 120 is too sweet for me as an "IPA." You might compare this to a DH 105min, if such a thing existed. Hopheads will appreciate it, but I think people who usually are turned off by big IPA's will enjoy Blue Point's take on it, as well.
It's going to be in limited release- on draft locally, and in 22oz. bottles only.
Neat bonus for the fest- everyone got a coupon for a free growler. Their tasting room is open Thurs-Sun for tastings and I think a tour is available, too.
the problem with getting fingered by Crazed is that you get all that orange Cheeto dust inside your pussy

i love the "Shiner" brand of beers, and stand by all Shiners
but at the liquor store today they had "Shiner Smokehaus" and it was shiner with a mesquite smoke taste to it. sounds gross. im debating whether i should by a 6 pack or not
I went to this last year, and it's a very nice festival.
It's out on the East End of LI, and set up outside on a vineyard.
Really a nice setting. Laid back- food, local wine, live music, and a lot of northeastern beer.
It's near the Mattituck LIRR stop.
I stopped drinking for awhile (I know it sounds stupid being that I just turned 21 recently, but it fucked with my already fucked up ming) and had some Guiness tonight. 5 to be exact. To me it doesn't get better than a Guiness on tap. So good.
And Smutty Nose Imperial Ale is the worst beer I've ever had. God it's awful. It's the only beer I've ever not finished.
Went to a Belgian Beer Fest last night. It was bad ass.
Some of my favorites, that I remember :
Affligem Blond
Brooklyn Local 1
Duvel Green (this is Duvel's light, crisp new sort of mass marketing beer, it was very refreshing)
Eurobrew's Brasserie du Bocq: Blanche de Namur
Wittekerke
Southampton Publick House's Double White
and a bunch of Unibroue's selections.
We tried a bunch of Saisons, too, and most were pretty good, but we had one that tasted black licorice, one that tasted like weed, and another that tasted like nail polish remover (if it could possibly taste good)
Underdog, given your quick jump past swill into the finer fruits of barley, I have a feeling that you will be liking Guinness in just a matter of time. Get a pint from a good pub (not just any ol' bar) because the taps will be fresh and the lines will be clean. Sit at the bar and order, and just let it sit for a minute while it "cascades." When you take that first sip, you can feel the malty-nuttiness in your taste buds and olfactory glands...
Man I want a pint right now. I wish I could be there with you.
Slainte,
SinA
A Proper Guinness will be 1 part NO2 and 3 parts CO2 on the pressure lines feeding the keg and it has a diffuser on the spigot that must be clean. When working properly....... Nirvana.
The thing you hear clinking around in those Guinness pub cans "tall boy" sold at finer beverage stores, is a nitrogen widget. (patented by Guinness but used by other English brands) will give you some of the same effect. SinA is correct though let it "rest" for a bit...then quaff.
