I guess the rumor true that they will land on "The Arrow" over in Maryland (Classic Rock sation, also owned by Infinity). Not a big fan of that format or station, but they do have two of the biggest names in D.C. radio already there - Cerphe and Weasle. I guess with D&M, this is the "put out to pasture" house, eh? Now, if they flip formats to something along the lines of the old WHFS, they might have something - if they keep the same old/same old, it's a death sentence.
With them gone, that leaves room for The Junkies to afternoons (where they will kick ass, I'm sure) and O&A to mornings (both here and in Baltimore). Should be pretty strong of a station, unfortunately (a) they still have speedbumps O'reilly, Rosenberg and Sevrin and (b) D&M were the only really bankable talent on the station (and they kept that place above water for many, many years, so it really is a brush off).
Score another win for O&A - they get Sterns old markets and timeslots AND squeeze Don & Mike out of their home like a pimple. I would slam the "NY Suits" for mettling in a D.C. station, but those guys knew what they were doing with "El Zol," as much as I hate to admit it.

This will be the 2nd time OnA have forced DnM to make a move that is seemingly a downgrade.
Actually, I went most of this year without going to DRECK- I don't think I clocked in at all for a good 2 months until pretty recently. The mailbag is useless - the "news" is worse. Even before Don's rave out last week, I thought Dave was getting preachy with his agenda against D&M, and I really don't like him with his subtle "Fez is gay" comments, for no apparant reasons - really tired of people on the outside, or who don't get that there is more to Fez than a one joke, making those comments (goes with Dave and other radio shows). Out of context of the R&F, I don't find it usually funny, and I saw where he did it again last week. I know he's your buddy and all, but the more he tries to promote himself or insert random-ass shit about his life into the column, it doesn't make it worth my time to read it. Pfffft!
And, yeah - this is the 2nd time D&M have been downgraded - sure they are pissed about it, until the second they get those $30 million paychecks. And "in the end," didn't D&M come out (at least on the short term) on top again? It's a fucking see-saw, and time will tell if this is a brilliant or stupid move.

They were having fun with internet rumors and let it fly that they might be leaving (same time Howard actually left). Since they have so much time on their contracts, I doubt they ever had more than maybe a brief exchange with Mel (who, apparantly believed in them).
They would be a horrible fit for Howard's stations (imo), although whenever Stern mentions them (which isn't that often) he doesn't trash them like he does other "clones." Artie, on the other hand, raved out on D&M last week (in the middle of the O&A talk), about how much he hated them the one time he heard them.
They have an audience that would follow them to satellite - their internet stream and itunes have been very popular all over the country, and a lot of people I've talked to who listen to them mroe than me think they are doing better than ever - and from what I;'ve heard, I'd agree. Who knows what eventually will happen with them, since Don has promised to really retire from behind the mic when he turns 50, which is at the end of their current contract (2008).
Yesterday they mentioned O&A coming, and had fun with it, by commenting about "all the good things" that CBS promised them (D&M) as well - saying they would be cleared in all the smallest markets on AM stations, and (if they were willing to pay) could do a show on college radio stations across the country ("Because what 18 year old doesn't want to hear his dad on the radio?") They only really got serious about anythinig when they talked about their GM having no spine, and how tough that must be to exist in life like that.

And the El Zol thing might have a happy ending, but consider that HFS in baltimore is doing well as I recall. And it is a FIXED version of the busted ass HFS that existed on 99.1... Blame the suits for breaking old HFS too while yer at it

I'll leave my feelings for Don and Mike out of this.
They are a popular radio show, I'm surprised it took them this long to do something like this. I think a personal studio just for a larger radio show is something all hosts would shoot for. Rush did it years ago.
It makes sense to have your own space if you're a bigger show, look at the problems O&A had sharing space with Ron and Fez.

Scooped him for an hour and counting... Dave is being a strange little child about this "fued" with Don G. Dave was being an ass for a long time in his tedious little replies in the mailbag and was wrong and when Don G called him out on it, he just flipped out I guess.
Might want to edit the title for the thread. D&M just confirmed that they'd be moving to a new studio (in rockville, md) and CONTINUE to broadcast on WJFK.
