Default Movies just for their score?

This is my first topic, but I was just sitting here watching "Fargo" again just for the score(Carter Burwell).
I also find myself watching "Memento", "The man who wasn't there" and "Requiem for a dream" just for the music.
I don't even pay attention to the movie anymore, it just soothes me.

What are some other good movies to leave on just for the score? Not the soundtrack, but the score.
I would much rather these be movies you actually watch or leave on, not just have the score on cd or something.

Are you talking about the score or the soundtrack? The score is the instrumental music, and the soundtrack are the songs played.

doesnt exactly fit in with your topic, but I love the Godfather score, and Ive seen the movie so much that I really do leave it on for relaxation music.

I also have a cd of music from the Xfiles (tv show) thats actually pretty soothing too.

But I cant think of a movie that sucks that I would watch just for the music.

I'll keep thinking though... not a bad 1st thread. Hi.

Lol, I wasn't saying the movies aren't good.
I was just saying I have seen them so many times, I don't need to watch them anymore....
I can almost tell exactly where they are in the movie by the score alone.

P.S. Thanks for the welcome.

Louis Malle's Ascenseur pour l'échafaud aka Elevator to the Gallows

The score was done by Miles Davis. Great movie and music.

When the Fountain came out in theaters, I wanted to see it because I've stuff about it for a while. Wasn't playing near me, so I bought the soundtrack because i know it the music was done by Clint Masell (sp) of Requiem for a Dream. Listened to the soundtrack everyday fanatically it was just that damn good. Finally saw the movie recently, was okey, not was I was hoping it'd be but the music is totally stand-alone cool. They've used some of the music for trailers for I am Legend and Mist.

welcome abroad, matey. Also, cool katamari avatar pic.

I really wanted to see the fountain, until I started to read the reviews.
It's kinda sad how a bad review can change that. I will have to check it out
now just to see if I can add it to my list.

I have to admit I didn't know who that was until I looked him up
on wikipedia. It seems like most of his stuff was for Hitchcock.
I don't know if I could just leave those movies on while I am
working or something else because of how tense they usually are.
Isn't most of the music in those kinda tense as well? Maybe I am
just thinking of the shower scene, when the birds are attacking,
and all the driving in "North by Northwest".

I think I was looking for more soothing scores. If you need a great
example of what I mean, just watch the first 5 minutes of "Fargo"
when those cars come over the horizon in the snow, best music ever.

The Last Of The Mohicans (1992) and The Mission (1986) are two outstanding scores. I've probably listened to thier scores more then I've seen the movies.

I've recently started listening to The Last Of The Mohicans again because they used it's score in the NIKE commercial Leave Nothing, which helps it become one of the best sports commercials EVER.

A score that I really enjoy is Transformers. You may laugh because it's the standard Michael Bay high octane blast-o-fest, but i can't get enough of listening to the soundtrack. i'm not talking about Linkin Park songs and such. It came out recently. Ya just feel badass listening to it.

I recently read Frank Miller's Ronin (great graphic novel to check out if ya haven't heard of it) and I was listening to the Transformers score. It was awesome reading it to music that sounds cool.
