Question What's the most recent Classic Car?

I love a beautifully restored classic car (Yes Hottub. You can post yours again). I've been trying to think of what the most recent cars are, that could now be considered "classic". It has to be one that can be restored (or found in some old lady's garage) that can really make you turn your head and say "wow".

I honestly can't think of many that are post 1970's. The other day, I saw a mint condition Chevy Citation. It's definitely NOT a classic car, but I did turn my head. I turned my head and said "WHY?"

So... What's the most recent classic car?

Early 90s Mustang or Camaro/Firebird.

Being from NJ, I'd go with the 1986 Iroc-Z for most recent. I think the last true (American) classic made was the 1978 6.6 Trans- Am.

I believe that for a car to qualify for a QQ plate thereby making it a 'classic' or 'historic' in NJ it has to be over 25 years old.

I'd say that the newest classics are probably the '83 Corvette, '83 Trans Am, and the '83 DeLorean.

Twenty five years is the standard for "antique", but not necessarily for "classic". When I was a teen in the early 80's, there were plenty of cars from the mid to late 60's or early 70's that I would call classic back then.

The laws here in Ca. used to be any car over 20 years did not need smog.. That meant it hit classic status, but now its different. I still feel like any car over 20 is a classic. I also feel that no front wheel drive cars can ever be a classic.

I totally have to agree with the Buick.

Monte Carlo SS

1987 Iroc-z

However, there are a few drift cars that are now instant classics. Prices on these have gone up 200% in the last year on the west coast.

any Nissan Silva (240Z)

any Corolla GTS in rear wheel drive.

i aslo had bought a brand new mercury cougar back in 88... will always be my fav car. when they came out i fell in love with the style and had to have one... they changed styles a few years later and didn't like it... the cougar in the mid to late 70's was a sweet looking ride as well

Honestly, these days to the people who like cars, this is probably the real closest thing to a modern day classic, since they dont make it anymore and we all know what people do with them:

The Toyota Supra and damn they are nice, but you couldnt go 10 feet in Bergen County in this car without a cop pulling you over
