Man With Desk next To Al Dukes

I have a good friend a few years younger than me. His parents split up when he was 6 years old. His mother won the custody rights to him, and it was a bitter battle between vistation rights for his father and so forth. Since he's gotten older, he wants to try to communicate once again with his father. When he was growing up he kinda picked up the hatred for him that his mother showed, but now his feelings have changed. he's worried to death that if his mother finds out, she may hate him too and have a grudge against him that the whole court thing was for nothing. He keeps asking me for advice but all I keep doing is giving him a 5 dollar bill and saying go ask someone else. So its been 18 years for this kid. he knows how to contact his father ( my older sister's law firm represented his father) should he? Now if his father remarried and had kids he'd have a step mom and step siblings correct? Do you think he should just leave everything the way it is and not f it up? Just curious what some people in here would think, im going back into seclusion now.....
