I love how everyone talks about what Vince is screwing up this time...well, this is nothing new. Think of all the great wrestlers who never had as much as a cup of coffee with a belt...now its the opposite, where a loser like Test can be Intercontinental champion...it's a different wrestling world...winning and losing doesn't matter anymore, titles mean even less...the World belt? Who cares? People bitched that Jericho never got the title, then when he does, everyone says how boring his reign is. Hell, the Rock's been in the WWF for 5 years and held the World title what, 6 times? None of it matters anymore...

Bottom line is this: just enjoy watching your favorite wrestlers perform...if you're going to be more worried about who wins and who gets what belt, you'll likely be sadly dissapointed...unless you like the Rock...

How happy would you be if there were title reigns like Bob Backlunds, and Bruno Sammartinos's and Hulk Hogan's these days? You'd be even more miserable than you are now bitching and complaining about who's not getting a push and whatnot. My opinion on the matter is that the WWF title has been given more credibility because people are willing to lie, cheat, steal and almost kill for it....well as much killing as sports entertainment allows. The shorter multiple reigns keep the attention of all the marks out there, myself included, who want to tune in every week and find out what the "F" just happened. And as far as Rock and his title reigns go: do you notice that Rocky loses more than any other top superstar? He jobs without complaint because they've set him up as the proverbial hero. He loses more often than not so that when he finally does win it makes the victory all the more meaningful and his title reigns are shorter so that they can bulid up the fans again for the next Rock victory. As opposed to Austin who seems to have a Hogan-esque "I am invincible" clause in his contract against losing and Triple H who's banging the boss' daughter.

I generally agree with this.

I think a big part of the problem is that the wrong midcard talent is being pushed. You have talented guys like Lance Storm & Shane Helms having to wrestle on wasted shows like Jakked / Metal, while we see Mark Henry on Smackdown. I'm all for the WWF trying something different and pushing different guys (i.e. the recent attempts with Lesnar & Orton), but there's obviously a huge discrepancy here. Christian loses all of his matches, and yet Bradshaw goes on a winning streak? Booker T is curtain jerking every week on RAW, or worse - tagging with Goldust - and suddenly the Big Show gets thrust into a main event angle with Steve Austin??? None of it makes sense. They should push the right guys. And I'm not talking about just pushing the smart mark favorites; I don't really think anyone could give me a totally plausible and acceptable logical excuse as to why Bradshaw or Mark Henry should be getting the success / exposure that they are while guys like Storm or Booker T are languishing in undercard hell.

As for the titles.....ALL of them are fairly meaningless now. Austin was maybe the last strong world champion (no fault of Jericho's, he was just booked to be weak. Otherwise, I loved him with the strap), the IC belt has been growing steadily irrelevant for a couple years now, the European title was worthless since about the 3rd time it changed hands, the hardcore title was always and is now a joke, the cruizerweight title means little to nothing until they push the division, and the tag scene is in complete and utter disarray. The only title now that is beginning to mean anything is the women's title, and that's only because the women involved are making an actual concerted effort to bring quality to their work and prestige to the title.

I wouldn't call Mark Henry's 1 match return a "push". He had one match. Calm down. I wanted to see Sexual Chocolate but I got Mark Henry which for all intents and purposes was an entertaining match. Bradshaw's big push? I dunno but I found out that he was better on the mic than I ever gave him credit for....not that I ever see him main eventing a ppv. Besides that the WWF dropped the ball with ECW's demise by letting so much quality talent go in the transfer. How cool would it be to have CW Anderson flanking Ric Flair as his new Enforcer? They want to build up the Cruiserweight division but they let every ECW cruiserweight go except Taijiri. Vince McMahon and the marks are the end all be all. Whatever they say get's pushed gets pushed. Why else would a geriatric be the undisputed champ right? And as far as Austin being the last strong champ? A champ is only as strong as his challenger. He got the same deal Triple H got. As soon as he came back from injury they gave him the belt. Not exactly what I'd call strong..
