I saw House of Pain open up for Cypress Hill circa '91-92. They totally had the crowd and kicked butt.

Cake or Death? Uh, I'll have the cake please.

Saw Los Lobos open for the Dead a few times. They, obviously, weren't better, but one time a passed out 'head next to me woke up halfway through the Dead's set and asked, "Dude, is this La Bamba?"

I saw Dokken open for Twisted Sister in the early stages of Twisted Sister's 'Come Out and Play' Tour ( I think it was the second date on that tour). Anyway, Twisted Sister was so out of sync that Dee Snider stopped them in the middle of a song and said "OK, gentlemen, shall we try it again?". It was definitely a case of Twisted Sister playing poorly more so than Dokken playing great.

We're Motley Crue. Here, have some rice.

Does it count when you went to see the opening act purposely?

In '95, I went to see Reverend Horton Heat at Roseland...only problem, they were the first act of 3...next band was the Toadies, and they actually were pretty good...but then the shitty band came on: THE BUTTHOLE SURFERS...god damn they were awful...

Failure blew Soul Coughing off the stage at Roseland as well, that one in '96...

And even tho I've mentioned it in the past, Suicidal Tendencies blew away Danzig and Metallica at Garden State Arts Center in '94...

I also went to see the opening band purposely.
My friend was really into
Blink182 and i didnt/dont like them much but he asked me to go to one of their concerts with him and i had said no at first but then i found out that Bad Religion was opening for them, i dont know why they were opening for blink182 but they were, so i went anyway to see Bad Religion. This was back in 96 or 97 or something.

In 1985 the clean and sober, original Aerosmith members got back together for their "Back in the Saddle" tour and opened for the Scorpions. The Scorpions were a great live band, ( I saw them four times in the 80's), but Aerosmith was so much more natural and had so much energy that the Scorps looked like high school cheerleaders after them. Of course I was 15 and high as hell, so all I remember was Tyler with the mike stand between his legs Happy Gilmore style singing "Suck on my big 10 inch!" Parachute pants rule!

I went with a friend to The Academy to see Ice-T's band, Body Count. The opening act was Rage Against the Machine. This was before they even released their first CD. At that point nobody had even heard of them. I got on their mailing list that night. I would always get tapes, posters,CDs and 45's mailed to my house for years after that.
