HOW I QUIT MY JOB
I quit my job as of Thursday afternoon. I've never felt so free (even though it was a part time job)
What did I do? I was a security guard for Argenbright Security.
I was assigned be a guard at a large Long Island company that i wont name.
That company seemd to spare no expense. The complex i worked at was friggin huge.
It had a day care center for the employees kids, a full sized gym, several tennis courts
even a helicopter pad for the CEO to land on. The cafeteria servered at least a dozen
kinds of world cusines and was VERY clean. I loved being a guard there. They paid me
somewhat deccently, i had plenty of oppourtunies to earn overtime, and the job was the easiest
on earth. I didnt do anything at all. In the begining things were great. (If this is sounding like a
behind the music episode, shoot me.)
My boss, Jose* has very cool at times. If you wanted a day off, he'd give it to you. My position
required someone to be at their post 24/7 365. (I worked on Xmas for the holiday pay)
I had a assistant supervisor to oversee me and the other guard. Her name was
Molly*, she was one of the only ATTRACTIVE girls who worked there. She was really nice to
me. She looked like a younger version of Jennifer Lopez. One problem, she was a Lesbian!
Aside from her, very few women at all worked at a security post there. If they did they would
1.Have some speech impediment
2.Be very old
3.Extremely Ugly
4.All the above
It looks at this job i would't get my game on.
I started in July of 2001. It was "all good". If you worked late you could sleep. You could
eat on the job, listen to the radio (no suprise I listened to O&A and Ron and Fez
, it made the day go by much faster!) , do homework or read the paper. (I read the ny daily news...a lot)
Compared to my last "good" job, a stock negro at target, this was the best part time job i've ever had.
But things would turn for the worse.
Molly got fired for being "too nice", numerous other guards got tossed for the silliest reasons like asking for
health insurance several time even though they needed it or eating a supervisor's crumb cake. (more on that later)
Then the tragic events of september 11th occured. ARGENBRIGHT secuirty was one of the firms at logan airport where the hijack planes
took off!!!!! I asked myself, what is going to happen at work now? I guessed working would be as carefree anymore.
I continue to work there. I figured, my job was still great and i got good money and hours. There would be a great demand
for security guards a few weeks after the 11th. I was even asked to do security at an airport. I refused. I didnt want to go under all
that pressure and i was also just starting out school at St. Johns.
But the worst was yet to come. Molly's replacement was Rosie*, another Lesbian who worked for Arrow security. She really took
her job seriously. I found out she was a former drug addict and dropped out of college because of that. She also had an adopted child to support.
Initially she treated me with respect, But ultimately she would lead guards to quit. She had wild mood swings. She'd be sweet one day, and
a bitch the next. Even the employees we were supposed to "guard" hated her. Many employees and supervisors even refused to be put on
certain shifts with her. I said to myself "Even though she's a bitch, i must work with her".So I did. She'd yell at me for the smallest things.
She had the impression I didnt know what i was doing even though
1.I was on the job longer than her
2.I've trained several people.
Well November passes and my good friend Rob D. wanted a job there. So i hook him up.
(He would be the last person under 21 hired there, They would put the rule into place when I
tried to get his friend Bill a job in the same fashion.) Work for me got better. Me and him would be
on the same shift to
