Reason #1

Mr. Joseph Lannin purchased The Boston Red Sox baseball team in 1914 and in that same year he purchased the rights to bring Babe Ruth from Baltimore to Boston. With Babe Ruth on his team, Mr. Lannin saw another dream of his realized when The Boston Red Sox won the World Series Title in 1915 and 1916.

In 1917, Mr. Lannin sold the team to Harry Frazee who decided to sell Babe Ruth to the Yankees for $125,000. Since this time, the Boston Red Sox have not won a World Series Title and the "Curse of the Bambino" has haunted the team ever since.

And THAT'S the reason why Boston sucks -- not some stupid "Curse of the Bambino". If there's any curse, it's been the "Curse of Stupid Owners/GMs/and Managers" and the "Curse of Playing in a 19th Century Ballpark". Allow me to explain...
First, the deal selling Ruth to the Yankees was done why? To help a lousy businessman keep his team -- and his head above water.
Secondly, Fenway Park itself is the problem. With it's "unique" design, the solution in Boston has always been "get more power right handed hitters". Tony Armas, Andre Dawson, Jack Clark, Jose Canseco: THIS has been management's solution to producing a winner --- offense, offense, offense.
Additionally, left handed pitchers don't fare as well in Fenway -- they give up home runs over The Green Monster. Name the last REALLY good Boston lefty? How about Bruce Hurst in 1986? When did the Sox have as deep a pitching staff as the Yankees? 1986 again?
Until Boston tears down Fenway, builds a park comparable to other in the league, and gets a deep pitching staff with at least ONE lefty, they'll never win a Series.

The only certainties in life are death, taxes and the Red Sox never, ever, ever winning a World Series. That's all there is to it.

2002 is the year the so called curse is broken. The best team in baseball right now is the Red Sox and with Manny, Pedro, Nomar, Shea, Lowe, Varitek all kicking ass I don't see any team that can stop them.
p.s. Jimy Williams did suck, who uses one 'm' in that name anyway!

It wasn't Buckner's fault. It was Bob Stanley's and Calvin Schiraldi's. Buckner put them in the Series.

I hate Fenway as well, the seats suck and make it hard to sit threw a whole game.
The new owners bought the team to win, unlike the yawkey trust that was there just to keep the team above .500.
The Sox have a great pitching staff right now, Urbina's got 11 saves, 3 pitchers with 4 wins, they lead the league in shutouts, Lowe threw a no-hitter and almost had another one and Oliver (left) is doing great so far.

My friends, I am doing this as the husband of a rabid Red Sox fan. Yes, I am aware of the deeper meanings and yes, I know that Buckner got screwed. But deep in your heart, as Red Sox fans, you must have an empty feeling that tells you not to get your hopes up.

Of course! I've seen this before: start off with a weak schedule, do great, fall into second place by the All-Star break, play good enough to get a Wild Card spot, lose in playoffs.
Being a Red Sox fan has made me the bitter and jaded person I am today! :)

It shouldn't have come to a one-game playoff anyway. When you blow a 10 game (I think it was) lead over the Yankees in the AL East, you deserve to lose.
The same thing happened to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1951.

As a kid, I used to really like the Sox til they "traded" Bernie Carbo in '78. Stupid Don Zimmer. They traded him to the Indians for money - sold his ass. Completely lost all faith in those motherfucking Red Sox.
Good old Bernie . . . one of the most underrated players the Sox have had. Great OBP, good power, decent in the OF and at 1B.
p.s. Jimy Williams did suck, who uses one 'm' in that name anyway!

After the Sox are done with the A's tonight, they will be 5.5 games ahead of the Yanks. Talk about the past all you want, the Red Sox are the team of the FUTURE! And yes, Logan is busy and congested, but they dont have 3 airports to choose from. I suggest driving or taking the bus to the world series.

I get really passionate about people who suck.
Making up a fake list of "reason numbers" is goofy. I also hate top ten lists, parody songs, and those "priceless" Visa commercials and their parodies.
