The very bitter "Mike and Mike Show"(Don's real name is Mike Sorce)! attacked O&A and mentioned that Ron and Fez were sucking up to O&A.
This is from 2 guys who barely get a ratings point in the number 1 radio market in the country, and have to hire an annoying talentless TV actress to boost ratings.
As far as I know, Ron and Fez have always been respectful to "Mike and Mike". Insulting them is gutless and not being a "team players", as "Mike and Mike" love to bring up.
The bottom line is that "Mike and Mike" wanted afternoons, and they are still bitter and jealous about the success of O&A. That's the bottom line.

For the most part, radio "feuds" are not very serious, they can help a station increase ratings and generate publicity. Years ago on WNBC Stern battled Imus, Soupy Sales and Joey Reynolds, along with management and it was great radio.

The only reason I heard the tirade too (which is a Don and Mike attention getter, lets not eny that folks) was that I was listening to Ferrell this morning. I am locked up inside the building teaching till noonish when I have lunch. And usually I switch the station as soon as I get in the car, but i just so happened to hear those two morons mention Opies name. To be more pecise I was concentrating on backing up when I heard "Opie"...What I love is how Anthony explains the whole thing and it is just sooooooo contradictiary to how Don and Mike explain things. They just sound like two bitter ninnies to me... Ohhh well. I have a feeling O and A may not even acknowledge there tirade... What i do wish is that they said this while they were in NY. Would have been great to hear O and A come running in and hearing Don and Mike switch off mikes to prevent people from hearing the asswhooping (ALA Tom Leykis in 99 when O and A came in on his show)...

Simply, the D&M show isn't funny. I can't recall ever laughing out loud while listening to them.

Ron and Fez aren't a threat to O and A the same way O and A aren't a threat to Stern. DIFFERENT TIME SLOTS!! Ron and Fez care about their show and that's it. They don't waste their time bashing other shows because they honestly don't care. As far as O and A go, O and A are now #1 in DC. After a MAJOR upswing from 17th. They did what Don and Mike couldn't do In New York, and that's whay burns them up. Don and Mike's ratings have been crap from day one and after well over a year they haven't done a damn thing. They can't say that it's placing because they started out with Ron and Fez's 7-11 spot and look at how well Ron and Fez are doing. Management got rid of at least one show that looked like they had a sign of life to make room for Don and Mike's abomination of a show and they haven't shown the slightest bit of heat. The reality of it is that they may be syndicated all over the country but they can't hang with the big boys. Don and Mike believed their own hype and in the end reality proved to be the harshest of mistresses.

Do you all even listen to what was said or do you just hear what you want and make up the rest.
1. O&A are not #1 in D.C. they are #8, they may have had a #1 rating in one area but are not #1 overall in D.C.
2. Don and Mike did not insult Ron and Fez in the least only said that they were not a threat to O&A which is true. R&F are on in a different time slot and have the full support of the O&A show, but not once did they criticize R&F. And to say that R&F do not take shots at D&M is completely false, i have heard at least 3 subtle shots at D&M this week alone.
and to be honest D&M are right any long time listener to the show would know that they usually dont back down to these situations but i can say that when they switched they ceased taking any shots at O&A for 8 months even though O&A repeatedly took shots at them. and they have now had enough.
Bottom Line: if you all dont like them then why do you listen, its always the same people who dont like something about one show or another. SO dont listen, and more importantly why are you talking about these thingswith D&M and O&A on the Ron and Fez message board. Why try to stir trouble, everyone understands that you guys dont like D&M but to constatnly obsess about it is absurd. D&M are honest about their ratings in N.Y. and that they arent doing well and that they have had the same rating for the last 3 books. Anyway...I listened to D&M a year or so ago, and I admit, I thought they were kind of funny for a little while, but then all I could really stomach was the news with Buzz, but now the whole show has gotten annoying. Same thing over and over again. Yelling at callers and doing the same bits. I can't listen to the show anymore. I love both R&F and O&A, and, although not having heard this tirade, it's a major insult to say what they did about R&F. Every time someone tries to bash D&M on the show they're hung up on...R&F don't deserve trash talk from them. They defend them. D&M are obviously jealous and desperate for ratings. Time to start up a radio feud. How lame.

It's come to my attention that every few months, there is a post on the message board due to things said in disgust against R&F from Don and Mike. Now seriously, this has just go to stop. I don't enjoy Don and Mike like everyone else due to their disrespect for callers, inside-jokes, and point and laugh approach the have for their fellow employees. But I'm also tired of seeing posts like these flood the message boards.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be a dick who says what can't and can be on the boards. I have absolutely no right. But it does give me a headache when others are bothered by two ingrates so much, that they post about it. "There's no use in picking a scab, be cause it'll only bleed, and form a greater scab."

Don and Mike have said those thing about Ron and Fez kissing O&A's ass. This is highly untrue of course. The two shows just enjoy eachother's comical genius, and have quickly formed a bond with eachother.

Also, the call abuse on Don and Mike's show is appauling. Every other caller who has an opinion different from the two dimwitted hosts are yelled at and hung up on. Yes R&F play the stupid girl song, but only to raise comical value and put up a red flag to the caller, that they need to think before they speak.

Clearly, Don and Mike are in fact jealous of the success of the two shows in both New York, and DC's markets. They whine about the little things and have even been noted on blaming their ratings on reverb levels, saying that, "the better sound attracts listeners".

Let's all do something that will solve the problem if we really want to kick Don and Mike out of New York. Turn off your radios, and tell others to. Also, I'll be starting up a petition in the "Off-Topic" section of the board for the banishment of Don and Mike from WNEW. You can look at me as a jackass for raising this idea and method, but it's exactly what it is. A method. I just hope that the feuds will calm down, and I'd be able to listen to something more to my liking between the hours of 11am-3pm.

Correct indeed, PanterA.

WNEW IS a mess. Along with infinity, they really need to decide what the hell they want to do with both the station and the format.

We all know where the problem REALY is: the anchor for the format is on a different station. Yet Infinity is trying to sell a syndicated package to it's other markets that include Stern, D&M and O&A. But in the #1 market where 2 of the 3 are home-based, that isn't the lineup.

We can get into the whole mess that is Sport sin the morning on WNEW, "Hot Talk" on K-Rock, and Imus on a sports station.

But regardless of how things are, Infinity needs to figure out how to fix it. It won't look good to these other potential markets if D&M are dropped. sure, we'd all like to see it, but it's just not practical.

Infinity has to re-evaluate their TARGET DEMO. I'm an 8 hour WNEW listener. I'm 26. Many on this board fall into this basic category. But D&M don't exacty fit the EXACT demo that O&A and R&F are targeted for...and succeeding in.

There are alot of dream scenarios that could fix the station, like moving Stern to WNEW, Ferrell to 'FAN, etc. Many hav ementioned bringing music to WNEW for slots outside of O&A and R&F.

But I think there are only(2) real ways to fix the station:

1) Re-evaluate the demo. Perhaps they should make a pure shift from the current goal to a more general one. I've mentioned Imus moving to WNEW. The switch from Imus to D&M is gradual, as is D&M to O&A/R&F. Even if it wasn't Imus, the point remains: maybe WNEW could get early daypart shows that are aimed at a slightly more highbrow listener...be it political talk or a show similar to the old Rocky Allen show.

2) Regardless of what people would like to see happen or what COULD REALLY happen, there is a nother way to RAISE everyones ratings: ADVERTISE . There are billboards and TV commercials for KROCK, WFAN and WCBS-FM. WNEW had a WOW board in times square for 2 weeks, wow stickers, and R&F bathroom stickers. Dasit. Maybe more people would listen is they knew the staiton even existed.

Now I'm from D.C., so I love the city. I'm not looking to get into a "which city is better" pissing contest.

However, I have to acknowledge one fact - D.C. is a smaller market than NYC, and thus is less important where it counts - advertising dollars. I say all of this only to point out how utterly fucking stupid it was for Don Geronimo to come on O&A's show and go "You're 14th in D.C.!". WHO CARES. Yeah, 14th in D.C., #1 where it counts in NYC. You tell me which is more important.

Oh, and to knowledged one: If you live here in the D.C. area, you should know how badly R&F are treated, what with the editing / butchering of their taped delay show, to the constant insults on the D&M show. Trust me, D&M have given it to R&F worse than they've taken it.

I dunno, I listen to all of the shows on WNEW (even Ferrall on occasion) and like all of them. I don't really care for all the intra-station squabbling.. I like to think of all the radio shows getting along in my imaginary radio station in my mind, but it's not really important. I'd prefer it if the shows barely mentioned one another. You don't hear "Friends" badmouthing "ER." True, it's a different media, but the goal is the same. All that stuff would be better left behind the scenes.

Yep. Don't forget the fact that it was only recently that WJFK even mentioned the fact that R&F are on the air. They started airing "snippets" of their shows like they do for Stern, D&M, O&A, and The Sports Junkies but they still don't mention them when they play spots that name all the shows.

And as far as the insults of R&F go: what did I miss? I only occasionally heard them imitate Fez's voice.

Don and mike are terrible. To tell you the truth, This is the only way they'll get ratings is attacking o&a. I haven't listened to them ever for a while because there are better shows on the radio.
