The Monsters of the Midday would be a great fit to the WNEW format. The flagship station that they are on is one of the original FM Talk stations. They are the new up and coming syndicated Midday talk show.

i don't know, but i have a few dark horses here that they should consider:

1) Scorch- works out of Syracuse. great voice, funny as all hell, already boys with O and A. and his appearances on the show have made him familiar

2) Brother Wheeze- another funny mother fucker. this one from Rochester. already has a show on Sundays on WNEW

3) Mark Cooper (the Coop)- one of the funniest morning drive show i've ever heard (a bit wacky, but very witty). perfect radio voice (think "ferral light"). works in Poughkeepsie, where he dominates the market. When i lived in New Paltz, he was the only thing that could get me up for class. He actually worked with Opie in Rochester back in the day (whether that's good or bad, i don't know).

any of these 3 could move to mid days, or ferral could be bumped up, and these guys could be martyred against Stern

I heard that the higher-ups are going to let the Greaseman and G. Gordon Liddy duke it out nude Grecco-Roman-wrestling-stylee...last man breathing gets the midday slot. I'm going with the bladder-weak Republican on this one...

Thos are all great suggestions but the Monsters of the Midday would be a great fit because of the past history that they have with RON AND FEZ

that's a good point, tony. the only problem i see with that is (correct me if I'm wrong) but they're from florida right? would they be syndicated out of there or would they move? if they move they would have to adjust to the new (and potentially hostile) audience. If they syndicate, they might have the trouble d+m had where their humor doesn't fit the distinct new york flavor that is really necessary to survive here. remember Tuttle in East New York? It's great for a bit, but could you see a whole show like that?

Then again, if they got the chops, they got the chops.

I usually don't get to listen to mid-day, so anything goes for me. As long as they don't put Ron & Fez there, that would really suck.

You are right Dark Hippie the stuff with Tuddle would get old. But that is not there whole show. They can add alot, more than just a show. They have there own band where they do all original songs some serious but mostly funny songs They just did a show in orlando where they drew about 5,000 people. And one thing you have to think about is that most of orlando are people that have moved from up north.

I forgot one more choice:

4) the Wolf- His show "wakin' up with the wolf" broadcast out of albany is strong enough up there that it is competitive with Stern. Plus, he's a sob, so he'll fit in fine in NYC.

I've heard a few segments of the Monsters on tape, and I wasn't really impressed. And websites shouldn't really be something to go by, but if they are...

Anyway, I think if D&M go back to afternoons at JFK, you could very well see their program tape delayed for a day to WNEW. If Infinity still has to pay them either way, then that could happen. If they don't have to pay them, then maybe we'll get Ron and Fez in there with D&M dalyed to 7-11 again or an O&A/R&F best of for a while.

It may seem crazy, but if they're in a sopt, WNEW could easily jerk R&F around AGAIN, because it seems that they are waiting to really

The Monsters are the freaking bomb! They have the funniest show I have ever heard and I grew up listening to Imus and later Stern and then Neil Rogers in Miami. The have very similar style to R&F. They even admit that they got into radio because of Ron & Ron. Monsters - Opie and Anthony - Ron and Fez would kick major ass!!!

I nominate Chevy Chase. His past performance with such great projects as "The Chevy Chase Show" speak for themselves...... Oh wait. I guess they DO speak for themselves. Nevermind.

I think Jim Rome will get some consideration because his show runs live midday. I think NEW should somehow get the listners involved in this decision.

good point ant, but look at it this way, ferral could be up for the mid day spot too. it would be a step up for having to go against howard. if ferral gets middays, then mornings is up for grabs and that opens a lot of possibilities.

i would love to see scorch in nYC. i love the kingdom of nakedness

I listened to (endured) Bother Wease for (3) years in Rochester, He won't leave the AM slot anyhow. Believe it or not the hooknose has not been able to beat Wease in the AM drive. Moving Ferrall to the midday may be a better idea. Until Stern leaves, NEW would be better off playing music for the morning drive. (Heresy, I know)

Holy crap, I've heard some Monsters stuff and honestly Don and Mike are a better fit. Nothing even remotely Southern - D&M would be considered "remotely Southern because of the callers, Monsters are flat-out Southern - would survive in NYC. Oh, and by the way, the Monsters are owned by Clear Channel... you know, Infinity's competitor, who is about 10 times their size.

For WNEW, how about Pseudo Radio? They're trying for some slot on WNEW anyway... whether it's weekends or the D&M slot. I wouldn't bet many people have heard of them, but check them out...

Sounds like spam but you might as well look it over... you never know, you may be hearing them soon...
