I think people forget just how much government workers do for us.

The military is a government institution and it does a pretty good job of keeping us safe.

I think people need to lay off the spinning of stories related to the FBI and the CIA and let them do their work. There are thousands and thousands of leads to follow everyday. We need to recognize that the men and women of the FBI and CIA are doing their best to keep America safe.

The government agents involved with information associated with 9/11 are laying awake at night with tears in their eyes that that they missed that one lead they read as the one lead that could have saved all of those people.

Fighting a war against fanatics and terrorists is unconventional and hard to track. The people of the government are trying to do their best to serve their country in a selfless manner that will benefit our society.

Rooster, you're a wise, wise bird...my Dad's been with the counterterrorism division for a good ten years now...I know him, I know most of the people he works with, and they always have been working their asses off to try and keep this country safe from literally thousands of organizations and countries bent on nothing except leaving us all dead and destroyed. He was working about 60 hours a week BEFORE 9/11, and since then I've rarely even seen him. These people are doing the best theyc an with what they have. The reason more wasn't done to stop 9/11 is, to be frank, no one had thought of anything that horrible before. Sure, it's on a lesser scale than a nuclear/chemical/biological attack, but it's just so out of leftfield nobody could really expect it. Hindsight is of course 20/20, so naturally every Joe Shmoe on the street thinks he could have seen this coming, which just isn't true. I can sleep a little easier at night because I know the people who are working directly against this are working themselves almost to death to keep us safe. And that's the most we can hope for at this point.

I didn't hear the spot on R&F last night, but I'm getting the gist of it here.

If you don't believe that the CIA, FBI and rest of the government is keeping us safe, just think of all the stuff that you DON'T KNOW about that they are stopping, or preventing from entering the border. September 11th is said to be "the worst act of terrorism on US soil since Oklahoma City." Before OC, it was Pearl Harbor. What other ones have gotten in? Where else have they failed? I think they're doing a damn fine job, where I can go to work every day, and not worry about getting killed every 5 minutes. There are lots of other countries out there whose citizens live in a constant state of fear of violence. If you don't believe that our government is helping keep us safe, try making a visit to one of those countries for a week.

Sorry guys, I gotta short fuse about this subject. I used to be able to see the WTC from my yard and watching them fall from my own back window was kinda scary. I didnt mean that the Government isnt doing ANYTHING for us, I meant that there are people in power that do not have our best interests in mind. I hope that we all do the right thing and go out there and VOTE because that is the only real way anything will change.
