does anyone know how to count cards? when i was in college, i went a couple of times to this like card counting club thing. it was pretty interesting and a lot of fun. but i didnt have enough time with my classes and all to really pursue it, so i stopped going. the club there would team up with one from another university, and they would take trips to atlantic city playing with this HUGE bankroll that was financed by some investors. the thing is, if you have enough money to play with, count, and play by the rules, you'll come out ahead eventually. i think it's super cool and i would love to learn how to really do it well...

I taught myself a few years ago. I began by reading 'Beat the Dealer' by Edward O. thorp for a historical perspectie. Then I read a few more up-to-date books with charts and bought a few decks of cards to practice with.
I never made it too the tables, though. By the time I had a big enough bank roll to make it worthwhile, there was no reason for me to go other than for entertainment.
Counting becomes difficult when 6-8 decks are used and the likelyhood of obtaining a favorable count is reduced when the reshuffle point isn't deep into the shoe. Plus the pit boss is always ready to ask you to leave if he thinks you're counting.
