I've been going over this for a while. I have a good friend of mine who has been my 'sidekick' for the past few years. He is 3 years younger than me.
I went to a party he threw sunday night and i just felt out of place. Now he has a girlfriend and all he does is brag about the great sex he has with her.
(mind you, i've been in a drought)
Plus he does things that i dont approve of. (taking drugs, hanging out with drug dealers).
I think all the changes he's making are kinda lame and just are an attempt to be "cool". What bothers me more, he didnt even show up at my party friday night and forgot about it.
Should i hold "sidekick" auditions :) and excommunicate him? Or something else?

Yes you should. Sorry if this is too short but he doesn't sound like much of a friend.

This is the same exact situation I am in with my bud from next door.
Hes 19 im 26. We used to be close like brothers, I mean weve known each other all of our lives. He is very annoying and on top of that he s a disser. He ll tell you he ll hang out and when his freinds pop up I am forgotten. He is always talking about having sex with his girl which is kind of uncomfortable. I stopped talking to him for like 10 months but he eventually came crawling back. My point is that you dont have to fire him from the job of sidekick just let him do his own thing like when Robin wanted to become Nightwing. The kids are annoying.

friends like that are so lame, ditching their friends to be with their girlfriend/boyfriend. i'm sure once the girl dumps him, he'll go crying back to you. try talking to him about it. if he doesnt get it, i say get a new side kick

If you felt out of place, that's more your problem than it is his. Plus calling someone your sidekick is kind of mean to say to them anyway.
But he is younger, as you said, so you should probably have expected him to be less mature and try drugs and whatnot.
I say just let him have his space and do what he wants. Making a big deal of it will just make you look crazy. Make new friends...if it's supposed to work out, it will.

I agree with Sundoggy. First of all your his friend,
not his sidekick or his keeper. It's not your concern
to judge him about his drug use. I'm all for voicing
distate for such a thing but ultimately it is his
decision. However, a true friend would not turn his
back on someone just because of a few petty
things. I say "dump" him because he doesn't need
a fair weather friend such as yourself .

what i meant by "not realating" is the three year difference. I'm 21 years old and hanging out in a parking lot trying to cause trouble or going to the Kings Park Pysch ward late at night(long island people know about this) really dont appeal to me.
I had to excommunicate people before. I had this friend who basically smoked his way out of high school. He was very bright and had decent grades up until senior year.
He skipped classes in order to smoke. That was his downfall.
I know some people like to get high and thats cool, but at the rate that he did it made him a poster child on how not to do drugs.
To make a long story short, i'm growing up. I want to hang around older people. People who i can relate to.

I have to relate to that. Bu my problem is - my friends are MY age (22, 23) and STILL want to do stuff like that. I'm more into going to a bar or club and just hangin now then hanging out in parking lots or trying to cause trouble

LENT it seems from the wording of your post that you already have a good idea what you want to do.
Your friend of the past few years, is 3 years younger than you at a time where a 3 year age gap makes a big difference in interests and maturity level. You report feeling out of place at his party. He didn't bother to show up at your party.
His relationship with his gf seems limited to sex, and while there's nothing wrong with that, if both parties agree, it seems to bother you (nothing wrong with that either.) It most likely also reperesents the age difference and your different view on dating and relationships. As you grow older the other aspects of the relationship become just as important as the sexual aspects.
Finally, you note that he does things you actively disapprove of such as drugs and hanging out with dealers.
It never hurts to stay friendly with people, but it seems you have the need for a different type of friend.
