Why are some men scared of the pizza delivery guy? The other day the pizza delivery guy came and my guy friends ran into the bathroom to hide, actually peeking out and asking if he was gone. This happens a lot with my boyfriend too. It also happens when the UPS guy comes, FEDEX, chinese food delivery - basically any delivery. Whats the deal?

Being a Pizza Delivery guy on the weekends, I can speak from experience.
Usually people are very happy and excited to see me cause I am bringing food, especially drunk teenagers. So I really don't know where this fear comes from.
MAybe your friend is a lousy tipper and he is afraid that the Pizza guy is gonna get revenge some how. Tell him, if he tips well he will never have anything to be worried about.
To be perfectly honest, the delivery guy should be the one scared. At they end of the night, I usually have a couple hundred dollars on me, and I get some shadey deliveries late night.
To my understanding, Dan is/was a Pizza delivery guy also, he should be able to give some insight into this.

Maybe the pizza guy is his ex-boyfriend.

Besides just trying to avoid paying, I think that's a pretty strange thing AMB! Maybe they thought it would turn into a sort of penthouse forum kind of thing where the pizza guy comes in and there's this wonderful orgy...but otherwise i dunno?! :)

AMB - No rational explanation immediately comes to mind.
There are people phobic of delivery guys (really!) but such a statistically small percentage so as to be insignificant.
Perhaps, he's just looking to avoid paying for the delivery or leaving a tip.
I suggest you ask him directly why he is engaging in this particular behavior. Please let me know what he responds.

One of the explanations my friend have me was: when youre a man, you don't want other men on your property. But you're basically giving the pizza guy permission to be on your property, so its weird, and theres nothing you can do about it, so I hide. They always give me money to pay the guy. I always assumed most guys were the same way.

AMB - Archaic as it might be, guys have a desire (almost a need) to protect their home and wife or gf.
It is archaic as it implies that women need taking care of and that they cannot manage on their own - a silly concept.
However, most guys do feel this way.
So why does your bf run and hide? Perhaps he is insecure about his ability to adequately protect you. (So he just hides, ostrich-like and pretends the situation doesn't exist). This is a very emasculating idea, as GIRLGERMS will no doubt point out as it implies that the gf can handle situations better than them, the "man," so guys will go to great lengths to avoid admitting or confronting their fear.
Another real possibility is that he is afraid to put his masculitnity to the test in the event of an actual confrontation.
Hiding in the bathroom during a delivery is just absurd.

His explanation is BULLSHIT!!!!
I am sure now this guy stiffed the Pizza guy, the Pizza guy said something back (cause I know I would have) now he is embarrased to answer the door.
IS your boyfriend Al Dukes??????

SkullCrush,
I have gotten stiffed plenty of times... but what is worse is when they give you a really small tip.
I delivered to thisa one Bitch in the F'n freezing rain, I was standing at her door ringing that F'n bell for at least 5-10 min. She finanlly came and wouldn't shut up about how sorry she was to make me wait. All I was think was shut up and give me my money!
She the pays me and Say "her is something extra for your trouble... $1 !!!!!" I F'n look at her and say " YES!!!! NOW I CAN PAY FOR COLLEGE AND BUY THE CAR I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED!!!"
Stupid whore... and for anyone who doesn't know... $2 dollars is the F'n minimum you should tip.

AMB - You tip the delivery guy 50% of the pie! That's very generous, but way too much.

You forget i live in snobby Westchester where a 2 liter soda, a large pie with two toppings, and maybe some garlic bread is around $30. :)

If it didn't cost that much, Missy, it wouldn't taste so good. The only way Westchester people could enjoy it more would be to eat it in front of a starving homeless person who they just set on fire.
