how do you know you are set to be with someone
for a while? i mean, at first every relatoinship is
AWESOME... then after a couple weeks, months,
whatever, it gets sort of blah. what signal/test do
you guys use to make sure this person is worth it?

personally i've done a thousand things, but it really
boild down to her being able to deal with me
sleeping. i roll over a lot, and becasue of my back
make a lot of noise. if they can deal with that, its
the real deal. plus sometimes i fart in my
sleep!!!!!!!!!

I don't do anything specific, I guess it depends on the person. After it has been a few months and the "honeymoon" is over, that's when I start seeing if I can really deal with the things I dislike about that person. That's what dating is all about, figuring out your best match, and I want to make sure I can love EVERYTHING about that person. Also, you know you've moved beyond the beginning stages (this goes with friends also) when you can be together and be SILENT, you don't feel like you have to fill the air with needless talk. That's a good feeling to me.

I think if you feel like you "are on eggshells" all the time, i.e., not being yourself for fear she may not like you for one reason or another is definitely not a good sign. And, of course, the obvious, where you argue alot and don't agree on a lot - definitely not a good sign.

My first boyfriend years ago was the only guy I really felt totally comfortable around. I could come in from the rain totally drenched, look a mess and have a tantrum about something in front of him, and he had no objections. I have had other boyfriends and I felt comfortable to be around them - but not like him. I think in the 5 years we dated, we had only about 2 fights. (Stupid me, I let him go! sigh!)
