BBS feature requests: "Last Reply By" and ability to choose page # in multi-page thread

I know on other BBS software like UBB, there's features or hacks available to add those to features. For instance, if you follow a topic a come back later in the day, you may just want to click directly to the last reply by clicking on the user's nickname which would be highlighted. Also, if a thread has more than 1 page, clicking next gets tedious. There should be a way to choose from the topic list to go to whatever page a user wants to go to.

Spell check would be nice too...you might consider the freebie spell checker at www.spellchecker.net....

As for the feature to jump to a specific page, it does exist. You get a list of the pages down on the bottom of the first page of posts. You can jump to whichever page you want quickly. I think the "last reply by" idea aint too bad, though.

Hey while I'm in the feature-request mode, how about seeing if there's a hack to add a "Reply w/quote" feature, where there'd be a link or icon that would automatically copy a poster's quote and italicize it and credit the quote to the original poster.

I totally agree. It's a preference that the users on a board that I administered wanted and definitely saves clicks/time...

Yeah I can understand the hazing, considering the low post count but I'm actually a LTL and finally decided to jump in on these message boards. I figured that by posting a suggestion it would come across that way. I used to be a moderator/administrator of a very popular music instrument related board so I get the gist of these things and I was simply trying to suggest things that would improve the user experience here. Call it economy of clicks. If I wasn't on cable modem, I wouldn't have the patience that this board requires on dial-up--which come to think of it, is probably the main reason I didn't post previously.

Anyways, by continuing my diatribe, I suppose one can infer that I simply added to the troll-ness that this thread has become...

I'll give you this much. I was on the Enix messageboard, and yes, the ability to select which page to open on a multipage topic is nice.

But I STILL love this board above all others. I dial up, and sit and wait for everything to load with my 24 MB of RAM, 56K modem, and my Pentium 1 chip.

I'm THAT INTO IT!! So I get VERY edgy when some fresh faced PUNK comes in here, and starts bad mouthing my board.
