Now that we have live DC listeners, I was wondering how you feel about DC Statehood. Even though I am a New Yorker, I feel very strongly that DC should at the very least have representation in congress.

I oppose DC statehood. We depend too much on federal dollars to finance the city.

However, I believe our Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton should have her voting rights restored. Since DC is a Democratic stronghold, I'll probably never agree with whomever my representative is but since we pay federal income taxes (unlike Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam and Samoa) we should at least have our representative's vote count in Congress.

Right now, the DC flag looks like a combination of the North and South Vietnamese flags.

DC needs all the federal $$$ they can get. The place needs schools and a Giuliani to set things right.

Fuck DC... if they clean their streets and get rid of the homeless people hounding me everytime I get off the metro, then maybe they can have statehood.

I don't where the hell else you've been, but of all the major metropolitan cities I've lived in, here and abroad, DC is by far the cleanest. And I'm still suspicious about the homeless people. 10-20 years ago, you couldn't walk without tripping over them. Now you just see a few here and there.

I've heard that some of the homeless are actually undercover Secret Service.

Who has better musicians for homeless people, DC or NY???
I saw a makeshift drum band in DC that would knock the socks of most NY homeless musicians.

10 years ago, I would have said DC. 10 years ago, homeless people here could do ANYTHING shy of getting a job and a home. Now they just shuffle around and sleep on the steam grates. Denied.
