So who were you? The Jock? Nerd? Asshole? Quiet Kid? Fat Kid? and no, you cant all be "the sex machine"

Im a mutt, a mix between Jock and Drama person. So in otherwords, im that normal kid who can get along with the "cool crowd" but doesnt really care for it, that much.

I was a whigger when being a whigger meant no one would talk to you, or clap for you at graduation. It may have been the baggy pants, the shaved eyebrow, or the silver cap on my tooth, but whatever. I was also on the academic team, so it was fun going to the meets with all the other geeks in their Oxford shirts and Dockers.

I don't know what the hell I was. I was not an athlete nor was I a nerd. I was sort of a heavy metal kid minus the hair. I never smoked or drank. Wasn't into the drama thing. My claim was that I had a rock t-shirt for every day without repeating for at least 2 months. I got along with almost everybody. While I was overweight, I wasn't a dirty fat slob. I was kind of quiet. Nobody really classified or bothered me or my crew. We were just there.

This will come as a shock for the few of you that met me, but I was voted 'Most School SPirit' my senior year. I was the girl-next-door with a wild streak, who was popular enough to be invited to the parties, but didn't really care. I was a half-assed athlete and in way too many clubs, smart enough that my teachers liked me and I never needed a hall pass, but I never really studied and at the same time I was the disruptive clown.

Hmmmm. . . if the kids I went through grammar school could have guessed it, "The Freak" (like Ally Sheedy in 'The Breakfast Club'). . .but not that extreme.

If I think really hard, as it was many years and many beers ago, I was the 4-eyed, innocent, quiet, smart girl who was easily embarassed by guys flirting with her and sex-ed classes.

Oh and a choir/drama geek.

I earned the nickname "God" by being the most knowledgeable about Drama Club rules . . . and being the only Junior to make the starting squad of the Quiz Bowl team(!)

I also had an "arch-enemy" of sorts, who went by the handle of Keyser Soze. . .the Devil.

And I wrote poems. And drew a 'cave painting' for a 500-word literary period essay. . . and got away with it (scored an "A", too!).

And Teachers LOVED me. . . my younger sibs had some of my favorite teachers for their classes and kept telling me how much they love me. Poor kids. It takes a lot to live up to a boot-lick's reputation.

For my Senior yearbook, I was voted "Most Dramatic" . . . and I still have a flair for drama. . .

So, I guess, overall I'm a freaky-geek-nerd? Yeah. That seems to fit.

I was the A/V squad kid. Running around sticking the camera in people faces.
The camera was like an unlimited hall pass. Teachers lounge, janitor closets, the only place off limits was the girl bathroom for obvious reasons.
We used to go outside and smoke cigarettes in the bushes in front of the school everyday.
No one ever got caught.

I was the freak that hungout with the cool kids because I 'knew' a lot of people in case there was trouble. In my high school, there were a lot of 'groups' that hungout and none of us ever crossed over. They only invited me to hangout with them just to be nice...other than that, they were still mean.

But, since I was the one who knew all the important 'tough guys' at the neighboring high school...I got to hangout.

But I never had a boyfriend :-( I was always the one with no boyfriend :-(

I was always picked on by the bullies. . .from Kindergarten up through College, if you believe it!

I'd like to know why. :(

My mother (who was a bit of a bully herself, but only to people she knew were weaker) used to say it was because bullies had low self-esteem.

Or they were jealous.

What I wouldn't give to get back those days I dreaded going to school because this 8th grade boy had a mask that scared me. . .and I was just a puny 5-year-old!

Ballbuster, always drunk or tripping. A guy's girl, I suppose. The only one in the group of stoner fuck-ups to graduate and go to college. Don't ask me how. I recall being a bit of a bully, but only to the assholes who tried to bully the even weaker people that didn't deserve it. I never picked on the nice people, I don't think. High school is a blur. Speaking of, is anyone else REALLY disappointed with their high school memories? I never had any "90210" moments. The whole experience seemed to come and go before I knew it. I didn't even go to my graduation.

Because I moved and started at my high school in 10th grade my situation was a little different. I was the guy that got along well with every group, but didnt really hang out with any of them. I still would go back to my old neighborhood and hang with my friends I grew up with on the weekends, then come back for school during the week.

If anything I was the gambling kid. Constantly husting the other kids for money either playing cards, shooting pool, betting on sports, pitching quarters, whatever. I still talk to kids from high school though from all the different cliques.

Well they were half right..

I was the only white kid in a NYC public school when race relations were extremely tumultuous so any white stereotype was frowned upon.. I just wore a pair of Lee's, a BVD and some shell top Adidas and I fit in fine...And fortunately for me, I played baseball and football and was the fastest kid in the school so I got "much props" and I got to keep my lunch money and my sneakers..

We actually had an activity in some speech class where we each wrote our name on a paper, then everybody's sheet was passed around one-by-one and you had to write a positive comment about that person, so at the end of class your sheet came back to you with feedback from 30 different classmates.

I have no idea what the point of that activity was, but it ended up being fairly effective gauge of how you were perceived by your peers. Obviously it's not perfect, because even though everybody knows Wayne as the stinky kid, no one would write that on his sheet.

Long story short, my sheet came back to me and it was pretty much a 50-50 split between "You're funny" and "You're good at computers"
